I'm curious what they do with VanVleet this summer. If they feel good about Reed, then he needs to hit the road.
Gotta keep him unless they can geta trade that is both beneficial for the future and now...
You get Durant to win a championship in the next 2 years.
They can let Fred walk after this year
If Reed's upside is legit, then Fred is just a guy in the way. Reed is larger and had an enormous superstar 2-way profile going into the draft. Gotta play him and let him work through his mistakes.
The Warriors Podcaster that was on the last RtRS episode made some good points about this. This sounds good in theory, but tougher in practice.
Warriors tried to develop their young guys (Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody) a few years ago while have a contending roster. They lost a bunch of games and Kerr reversed course and started playing the better performing vets. They got back to winning and eventually won the title.
I think it makes sense to develop Sheppard and see if he can take over, but it would be irresponsible to not have a backup plan considering they just traded for Durant and their biggest need would be another guard any way.
