I’m not sure Ty would look forward to backing up Tyler after what he did to him in the playoffs last year. He probably has no interest joining us.
Considering the current age of the core of this team and the age of the guys they're looking to get rid of, it would surprise me if the Heat had any interest in giving money to soon to be 28 year old UFA Ty Jerome. At least they shouldn't. Anybody they bring in who is gonna take minutes away from recent draft picks should not be a career backup.
No to Davion then too eh?
Davion is younger. And has a skill most of our perimeter players do not. POA defense. And as it stands we only have one PG on the roster they actually want to keep. Kasparas. So there is a need. But even no guarantee with Davion if the Sexton stuff is real. Ty Jerome is another offense first combo guard/wing. We have plenty of those types. While Pelle is probably defender first, he along with Herro and Jaime seem to be the keepers as it stands. Throw in Kasparas and that is 4 guys of similar size I'd rather see play. All younger, three much cheaper.
Ty Jerome aint changing this team's trajectory. Maybe some contender signs him to a Strus type deal. Maybe Cleveland does. But he would be a split the difference type of move. Not featuring your youth. Not all in on being a contender. Good player but a progress stopper. We wanna give a guy like that minutes? Just keep Duncan. At least he's expiring.
