Could probably save $3 million if we just made him an assistant coach.

Need Dhackett to weigh in on this, but it seems like bringing back Temple points to good things about the Raps being willing to flirt with the tax line this season
He only counts as $2m towards cap
League reimburses difference of these vet minimum deals

you can have 20 on the roster before the season starts then 17 by opening night.
still have a full summer of trades that can happen.

Rosters are 17 players? Is that including the 3 2ways?

I would hope guys like Yak, Ingram and Scottie could lead at this point. Even RJ and Quick are young vets. I guess these guys aren't mature enough.
Not everyone is a leader. Look at KD, he’s a top 20 player of all time and he still can’t lead a team for ****.
Those guys can be on court leaders but off the court? That’s a different ball game.

Already we have
Barnes 1
Ingram 2
Quickley 3
Barrett 4
Poeltl 5
Agbaji 6
Gradey 7
Ja'Kobe 8
Murray-Boyles 9 (Unsigned but it’s a formality)
Shead 10
Mogbo 11
Temple 12
Battle 13 (get guaranteed on July 1st)
Castleton 14 (non guaranteed)
Lawson 15 (non guaranteed)
Martin (unsigned)
Chomche (2w)
Chuck (2w)
Rhoden (2w)
-I am assuming that Battle stays but one or both of Castleton and Lawson get waived?
-Maybe Rhoden is waived and Martin only gets a 2w?
-Do we start the season over the tax (and duck it on trade deadline )?
- Do we make a trade to gets below ?
- Do we add a veteran minimum back up C ?
While Temple is a no brainer for the culture , for some reason it’s surprise me. But definitely the right move for the vibes !
I thought the bolded was a given, but we just used up that Veteran Minimum money on Temple no?

On Spotrac they got it as a cap hit of 2.3. That brings us to 12 guaranteed contacts plus our two rookies. Assuming no trades, we should have room for only those 14 under the tax. There might be some room to carry either Lawson or Castleton(or someone else) into the season Bruno Fernando style as a 15th man since they are both non-guaranteed until January 10th.

See Indiana and James Johnson

so status quo it is
we have like 8 guys on rookie deals. a bunch of them 21 and younger. it's a minimum 15th man deal.

sure he stabilizes the locker room as a father figure. this pretty much confirmed no big moves are gonna happen this offseason

They lost to one of the youngest champions ever who didn't have a vet in that type of role..

1/18 spots, we can live with that.

Okay but they got to the finals when no one thought they would and who knows what would have happened if Tyrese didn’t get injured. Like to make the standard being you have to win a championship for locker room vets to matter is a little disingenuous
