Wonder if they'll stretch Pat or do some type of Pat for Javon Carter type deal to save a few million.

We are without a doubt paying the tax. The new rules state you have to be out of the tax for 2 years to avoid the repeater tax, and that isn't happening. We can use our TPE or take back more money in trade.
Why is that?

Why did they change the rules? I'm guessing it had to do with lowering the multiplier and creating different tiers.

Or why would we pay the tax? Spending slightly more is necessary when we have essentially $54 million in dead salary, but still have a good team.

Between the other 8 players under contract and Big Bob on an AAV of $14.6M the Bucks have roughly $162.7M in team salary.

Full MLE and BAE used on 3 total players would be $181.9M for 12 spots, leaving $14M in apron space to add 2-3 additional players. Tons of breathing room.

Yup. Sims and Rollins will eat into that some.

We just got a great deal on Bobby, and now we're going to waste money on a different center, so we can play with no SFs?

I get the frustration, but I think everyone can see he's terrible. They aren't that dumb. Hopefully he puts up some better numbers early in the season and we can move him.

Im ok with Wiggins for Conny/Kuz trade. You have my blessing.

Anything to get Kuzma out of here.

Then sign and trade Brook to Lakers for finny Smith.

*14 contracts
*Waive Livingston
*Bogi on nba team, makes 2.2 this year
*Use full MLE (let's say Trent)
*Use full BAE (let's just say KPJ) (Or you can give KPJ the MLE, let Trent walk, and sign a FA with BAE)
*Re Sign Sims to the min
*Sign some vet for around 2.4M

This would put us .5M over the tax line and we still have not allocated any money towards Rollins. Even if Rollins gets a big offer somewhere else, we would still need money to sign a vet FA in that slot. So we currently do not have space under the luxury tax line to both fill a full roster AND use the full MLE and BAE.

So this is why there is talk about MOVIN MONEY. Something's going to have to happen with a Pat waive and stretch being the backup plan i would assume. Doing that would allow us to pay Rollins up to something like 5M annually.

So really as long as they let Brook walk or take back no salary in a S&T for him and cut Livingston, they have access to the full MLE, BAE, a vet min, can give Rollins up to $5M, and can give Sims around $3-4M and still duck the first apron hard cap.

Perfect! And they can create a bit more space for a mid season signing if Bobby’s deal escalates so it’s not a full 1/3rd this season and do the same with Rollins (4/20 but start it at 3.5) and Sims (2/7 but split it 3 then 4).

And that’s before potentially flipping Pat for Carter or someone who makes slightly less on a two year deal.

In the past I would say easily. However I don't know if we hit 15 on the roster this year and we are already without a player the entire year. I would say highly unlikely if we only roster 14.

Detroit could create up to $24 million in cap space

Detroit's already paying Stewart $15mil/yr at C, Tobes $25 mil/yr at PF, will need to extend Duren, and likely need to spend to replace Beasley/THJ on the wing. They were never gonna go out of their way to pay Bobby considerably more than what we did.

They might come after Green or Trent with the Beasley stuff going down.

Nehm has us at 156.1 with Giannis/Dame/Bobby/Pat/KK/Smith. Tax is 187.9

Green is making this roster and I'm going to assume Andre is as well. 160.6 for 8 players

14.1 for some use of the MLE. Going to assume a combination of Trent/KPJ. 10 players 174.7

Rollins is back at 3 million plus 2 vet mins. 13 players at 182.1

Hey Brook how's 2 years 5.8 per year sound?

Green is extension eligible, not not a FA. Unless there's another Green you are referring to.

Best part of today is we can stop seeing the Sexton/Collins trade suggestions.

Pelton gave the Bucks a C- on the deal. Bobby's advanced defensive stats near the rim were the bottom 25 percent of the league.

Hard pass. Rather use the BAE as well as separately signing Sims. If you use the MLE split between GTJ and KPJ then you can use the BAE on another big and keep Sims and that big instead of Brook.

S&T Brook for a couple seconds which also gets you a TPE for later use.
