Cam Johnson is more consistent on both ends than MPJ. I think with this move they can sign one or two players (Bruce Brown & Clint Capela?) to alleviate the reliance of the starters

I guess Clint Capela went back to the Rockets……made no sense since the Rockets have Sengun and Adams at center

Nuggets still need a backup center. Not sure if Ayton would be interested, or Denver would need to wait around the deadline. If Jokic can play around 33 minutes this season, he can be much fresher in the playoffs.

They have their 1st round pick from last year coming back from injury. DaRon Holmes will get minutes this year

Cam johnson is better and younger than mpj. If you think mpj is actually better than you dont watch the nuggets. Frees up a lot of salary too. Good move.

Truth is Cam had very uneven season too similar to MPJ , there will be games when he will be their second best player , but he got plenty of games that he didn’t deserved even starting spot

Maybe he wasn’t motivated enough on tanking Nets but he had plenty of very mediocre games too

It was due. MPJ was never going to evolve his game next to Jokic. Johnson is a better defender and doesn't have to worry about being so stretched out as the main playmaker. He's going to get some great looks in this offense. I'd rather see him come off the bench and they start Peyton Watson at the 3.

It's a risk in the sense you mention but he will also get more space, not have to be 'the guy', and is a shot creator in a way that MPJ is not. Plus Nuggs move off of MPJ's huge contract. Lots of benefits all things considering.

I'm hoping it's the former. He got his money ($40M) but at the price of playing on bad teams. He'll get to reprise his old role as the main 6th man off the bench. But obviously that is a concern.
