It makes no sense that the Rockets would've helped facilitate a Durant to Cleveland deal if they wanted Durant. They could've traded the same package to the Suns, tossed a couple of picks on top, and gotten Garland. They could've opted out of FVV's deal and taken back the extra salary required.

The 2029 worst-of-UTA/MIN/CLE is out there. Maybe the Cavs end up with a 1st back for Hunter or something as part of the remaining matching salary.

But they had no ability to add draft capital or take back the salary the Cavs would have to send out. There would have to be a third team.

The return on KD sucked, I'm sure Phoenix was calling everyone in the league trying to get some bidding going.
How did they not get any of their future #1's back from Houston?

I may be biased towards Wade, but I never felt that he was a problem, especially for the price we're paying for him. Ideally we get a different backup big, and he just lessens the load during the regular season; but I think he's more than serviceable in a pinch. I just wish he got some of his confidence back to rip from the 3, like several seasons ago. He had that one injury that kept him sidelined for several months, 2 or 3 seasons ago, and he hasn't been the same since. Still believe in my boy Dean though.
