Shams: Knicks, Guerschon Yabusele agree to deal

For a team with virtually no flexibility, the Knicks did pretty good. The bench can be pretty dynamic now.

We essentially traded Payne and Precious for Clarkson and Yabusele

I'll just say it, I think both of those are just straight up upgrades, but even if they're not, I don't think they're worse

So if we make 1 more solid bench addition for the minimum, we're good. And by that I mean essentially we need someone to replace Shamet, which I really don't think would be difficult to do even with just the minimum

Then best case scenario, you might get something out of Kolek/Dadiet/Hukporti as well, which we don't need but would be nice to have.

Yeah, I can't picture the bench depth being worse after this. There's plenty of time and cap space is fading quick for everyone, so I think some options will pop up.

Does this kill trade avenues because of the apron? I could see them trying to flip Mitch if depending on Huk's development and how much small ball the next coach intends to play.

I think we're done folks... I could see us bringing back Shamet/Wright and then our kids, of course. (McCullar, Huk, Dadiet, Kolek). We got everything we need to get to the Finals IMO.

I heard they didn't. I think, but not sure, the reason is they can use the TPMLE over the summer without doing so, but they can't do it during the season.

I don't think any signing we've made changes anything apron-wise

I do think Mitch is the obvious trade piece, but I don't know for what. Maybe Jarred Vanderbilt? Can't shoot a lick and is always injured, but he's a good defender with size, and given how we have guys who play the 5 who can shoot, it might work

But he has 2 years plus a player option, so I don't know how well that'd work if we're extending Mikal to a big contract too.

He's a solid bench piece. 7'1" wingspan, 6'8" height, big ole booty a la Mason, and hits the three's at a 38% clip. Hustle player. Defense might not be on Precious' level but the ability to spread the floor and his muscle down low is going to help.

Suddenly, we got one of the better benches in the NBA, folks! Yabu, Hart, Deuce, Clarkson is sick.

The best version of our bench, especially if we can land a minutes eating starting big to push Robinson into the bench role in which he excels, is very solid and complimentary:

Shot creator: Clarkson
Secondary ballhandler: Hart
Floor spacing: Duce/Yaba
Rim protection: Robinson

I can see the Knicks trading Pacome Dadiet for a pair of future 2nds - this would allow a 2nd minimum slot on the roster to start the season along with an additional +/- $750,000 to add a buyout guy mid season.

We are an all-in team so while we would all love to see a young guy develop, it might not be in the best long term interest.

They know. If they weren't given a specific guarantee of the coach, the FO told these guys the list of the final 2 or 3 candidates to be the head coach.

They know. If they weren't given a specific guarantee of the coach, the FO told these guys the list of the final 2 or 3 candidates to be the head coach.

That's kind of public knowledge at this point, so you have to assume they are cool with any of the names until a decision is finally made.

I see the Knicks are adding talent but how do these pieces actually fit together? Brunson and KAT are very talented but they aren't the greatest fit. Do any of these new pieces address the issue of the fit between Brunson and KAT on both sides of the court because those are the two players the team is built around?
