I saw a report that LBJ is done in LA after this year as they want to pivot to building a team around Luka. They would have to be insane to take on Grant at his salary and burn their financial flexibility in 2026. I think LE GM days are over in Laker land.

Ends up being a 3 for 4 deal when they sign DA for the Lakers, Blazers have the open roster spots.

If this happens, I wouldn't be surprised if the league opens up a tampering investigation.
If it holds, Maybe POR or LAL lose a 2nd round pick, and DA is not allowed to sign in LA.

Still. that is a solid outcome for us if it comes true.

It's the Lakers. Do you think the League would investigate the Lakers?

If the League opened a tampering investigation for that, but not the Luka trade, that would genuinely leave me in stitches laughing. Also, in the scenario that the NBA is involved in the Luka/Cooper Flagg magic, that's further incentive for them not to 'investigate'. Unless they wanted to appear diligent.

I'm probably wrong, but my take on this is that when the Ayton news was first announced, some guy with a twitter account or blog simply speculated that maybe there was a connection between Ayton going to LA and Grant being traded there. Speculated without a shred evidence or a hint of rumor. And that speculation has propagated to a bunch of uninformed asshats saying: "this is what I'm hearing"

Watching ESPN and they were just talking about the Lakers and how they're valuing cap space next summer. LeBron is likely moving on, as well next year. If that is true, no way do they take on Grant. I'd love it if they would though!!!

Rui, Vincent, and Knecht should work!

Hopefully the Blazers will unload Grant before training camp.

Not saying it didnt happen (though I am in general skeptical of narratives such as this, there are always two or more sides to a story) but that's an odd juxtaposition.

Slamming chairs and throwing tantrums for a lack of effort? You don't slam chairs and throw a tantrum if you don't care so I don't know how both those things can be completely true.

I dunno. Maybe he was frustrated with himself. Maybe he was angry because he felt his efforts were unappreciated. But there has to be some greater level of nuance here than is being reported.

But that's just how the news is today. Sensationalist and one sided. I dunno why it seems to get worse and worse in the social media age, when characters are limited and views are money. I just find myself so skeptical of all of it, profiting on misery and division and tons and tons of outrage engagement bait.

This has been who Quick always is. I don't know how many were reading him/remember what he was like during the 'Jailblazers' era, but there was a period where Canzano and him wrote these articles (one each, I can't remember who and I can't find them in any archive system): one wrote an article about Darius Miles' credit card being declined at a gas station and the other wrote an article about Randolph's donation check bouncing, which iirc was all cleared up once his people were made aware. But the two wrote it like these two guys in their early twenties were the scum of the earth.

not much of a chance. The Lakers are busy planning for post-Lebron reality. They have a shot at massive cap space in 2026-27; they won't cripple it by taking on Grant's salary

Its almost as if people forget Camara was part of that trade. Not saying Cronin didnt get lucky on that addition but in hindsight acquiring Camara made it worth whatever headache ayton may have been

Luck is part of the game. Regardless of what Cronin expected Camara to become - he hit. Thats all that matters and he gets the W on that trade because of it IMO.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
