The only thing he does is shoot and score, he’s really bad at everything else. And the issue is, he doesn’t even shoot and score at an average level anymore.
Over his last 4 years, his shooting splits are 40/36/81 (54 TS%).
Dont get me wrong not saying this is a bad signing, it’s not like Denver has a ton of money to throw around. Just saying I don’t think this one moves the needle much. Again won’t be shocked if he’s not even in the rotation by the time the playoffs come around.
It´s a really good deal for vet minimum. THJ is a proven player, there is a reason he has averaged around 25-30 minutes on each team he was on. Having him as 7th or 8th best player on their team is a massive upgrade to their current roster. They only had 7 players on their roster last season that averaged more than 14 minutes and their main issue the last few seasons was that they had 0 depth. There was nobody they could put on the court that could really give them something besides their 6-7 rotation players.
THJ is somebody that can give you 15-20 points from the bench on a good night, they didn´t have that. Everybody was on Jokic during the playoffs for not scoring enough and when you checked the box score it turned out he "only" had 20 points. The issue was more that they had almost no players that are capable of getting you double digits each night. And if you then have a situation as with Michael Porter who was horrible in half of the games and can´t even replace him, you won´t win a lot of playoff series.
