Interesting spin. Kyrie is out until January at the earliest. AD is gonna miss 20 games like usual. And nothing else matters after that.

A few years from now, Flagg might be developed enough to carry a team, but that's not even a guarantee at the moment.

I don't know how much I'd be selling on the PRESENT state of the Mavs. If Flagg pans out, then they will RECOVER from the Luka trade reasonably well, but they've got some old, injured star players who will have major availability issues and be into their decline.

This almost feels like a "LEAVE BRITTNEY ALONE" post for Nico...

Even with that all-world luckout into #1 pick, most of the talent on the wrong side of 30 , got a stale bag of chips for a 25 or 26 year old generational talent and it's just a crying shame.

They'll recover. Dallas has actually been pretty on top of it the past quarter century or so. They have a title and three Finals appearances, they've fielded multiple MVP-level players, they're gonna be okay.

Nico Harrison has really done a good job for a long time. Flipped KP for Dinwiddie (who played great in that playoff run), then later turned Dinwiddie into Kyrie, who was elite next to Luka. Tanked smart and landed Dereck Lively, a perfect fit who changed their defense. At the deadline, he grabbed Gafford and PJ Washington—no Finals without them, they totally changed the team chemistry. Added Klay Thompson, got Naji Marshall on a great value deal (8M/year), and brought back Exum from Europe, who became a key guy.

Why do you have Kyrie at PG? Do you have information that he'll be back soon and be back to the player he once was?

I mean Kyrie doesn't depend on his exhilarating athleticism very much and is more about finesse and shooting, so I think the general consensus and expectation is that he'll return in pretty effective shape.
ACL related time missed also keeps decreasing over the last decade or so, so I think there's reason to be optimistic for early next year.

Please don't fool yourself by putting Kyrie name in this squad. He is not Kyrie we used to know anymore. Less explosiveness, less dribble penetration and finishing at the rim.

At best he will be a sharpshooter. Write "Duncan Robinson" instead to be correct.

Luka trade was a terrible deal because Niko left assets on the table. Has nothing to do with AD at all, but Luka isn’t really a winning player. He’s literally James Harden from 10 years ago without the crippling strip club addiction.

You forget about Anthony Davis reinjuring his groin the first game he played with the Mavs and missing the next 6 or so plus weeks of the season. Regardless of Irving injury they were not making any noise without Davis.
