Levert averaged 37% from 3 while he has decent ball handling skills dishing out 3.4apg on 24mpg. Solid signing in my opinion.

Last season was an exception for him, not the rule. He's a 34% 3 point shooter and definitely not a floor spacer. Teams will gladly give him that shot. Robinson will help, but we need at least 1 more guy in the rotation with some gravity from 3.

I disagree with that. Auser is a guy teams gladly give a shot for, not a guy shooting 34% or better.

You can disagree, but that's not how teams play him. It's going to be like stew 2 years ago. Teams will double off him to shut off cade and ivey and live with it if Levert hits his 1 three a game. He doesn't have the sort of shooting gravity where he'll keep his man at home and leave Cade free to operate in space.

I would be happy as hell if teams allow Levert be open to shoot his 37%+ from 3.

It's 34% typically. And if you think Cade facing constant doubles is good thing, well, I don't know what to tell you. The rest of us kinda enjoyed the 1 season cade got to operate with a bit more space and I think he enjoyed it too.

Cade will ALWAYS get double teamed regardless. Levert shot 37% last year and even if he shoots 35%, he is solid from 3 and is a solid ball handler who dishes assists well all while being decent on defense. Very solid signing regardless how you try to spin it.

If you didn't notice the spacing difference last year for cade, not sure what else I can say. It was night and day.

Levert is a solid NBA rotation player, just not a floor spacer. It's not like 35% is the bottom of what to expect. 5 of his seasons have been 32% or below. Teams play him for him to put the ball on the floor because he's really good going downhill. They aren't trying to be up on him on the catch. A guy like that can certainly have a role on the team, but we also need multiple guys in the rotation with some real shooting gravity where other teams will play them tight on the line. Robinson is 1. Teams typically play tobias like that. We'll see how teams play ivey, and that will be huge if he can sustain his progress from pre-injury. We still need another rotation guy who can space though.

And 5 of his seasons have been about 35% or higher. So 35% being the median expectation. Just curious, you honestly believe teams were any more fearful of leaving Schroeder open than they would be Levert?

Just flat out shooting wise, are we really taking that big of a step back from THJ/Schroeder/Beasley to Ivey/Levert/Robinson?

Teams let schroder shoot too. He just happened to get red hot in the playoffs and make 48%.

If Ivey is like 35% instead of 40%, yeah, we are in trouble right now. We can't have a starting lineup where tobias is the only one they guard tight on the perimeter. And we need another 4 who can shoot too or the bench unit is looking rough.

Between Levert and Duncan, I have no issues with spacing any more than last season. That is up to JB to devise a strategy.

Hopefully with all the time off he has had, Ivey has gotten up a million 3 points the past few months and continues to shoot them all summer. If Ivey isn't shooting the three ball well we may be forced to start Duncan Robinson to space the floor for the starting lineup.

Would love to see Cade at SF some with those 2 guys playing or move Duncan to SF some.

So what have we even lost? Beasley's shooting last season far outweighs THJ, Ivey, Robinson, Schroeder and Levert. But we didn't choose these guys over Beasley, that decision was unfortunately made for us. So even if it's a slight downgrade shooting wise from Beasley/THJ/Schroeder to Ivey/Levert/Robinson, it's simply due to Beasley's shooting prowess.

100% on the underlined part.

People are getting wayyyy too caught up on stressing to replace x number of 3 pointers, or y % of 3pt shooting. That is being much too literal. You only worry about such things, if you don't plan on evolving and just try to do what you did last season.

If your coach is worth his weight in salt, he'll utilize the skillsets of the personnel he has available to create a viable offensive scheme.

For example, Levert is an extremely more well rounded player than Beasley is. JB should be able to lean into Levert's secondary playmaking ability, and his ability to attack off the dribble and get to the line more than Beasley can.

Levert is a much better chess piece, than Beasley. There are lot of other ways to stress a defense than having a high end catch and shoot guy (who doesn't do much of anything else) on the floor.

If JB was able to utilize Schroder better than his previous teams, I feel confident JB can make Levert and Duncan to be effective. Schroder and Beasley played like they were having career years. After this past season, in JB I trust.

He's not the only one doing spinning here.

He's had an awful eFG% pretty much his entire career with the exception being last season. It loosely correlates to his subpar 3pt shooting most years. Aside from last year he's been blatantly inefficient.

Let's hope that magically he has decided to turn a corner at age 30 and play better going forward than he did all of the years prior. It's difficult for me to think of other examples of this happening. It certainly isn't the norm.

I hope BMP's optimism proves correct. Time will tell.

Love his ability to finish with either hand. Great coordination. He will do a solid as a Piston.
