Once Tyrese Haliburton went down, however, Indy became vulnerable. “It changed everything,” one league source said Tuesday. Until that moment, ownership was willing to pay luxury tax for the first time in 20 years. – via New York Times
It's so short sighted. I know Hali might not be 100% what he was before when he comes back but like a couple years of tax payments and you get to see if you have a real thing going seems like a small price to pay.
Like the whole 2nd apron and hiking up the repeat tax rates is exactly what you do to disadvantage the teams willing to pay the high price for an expensive roster to allow for a team like the Pacers to come into a level playing field and they are just sabotaging themselves. They haven't been to the Finals in 25 years, THIS is the time to go in, not pull back
