Others probably posted this but Hollinger helpfully laid out the cap mechanics of all our maneuvering to Nehm.

Horst and maybe even Doc deserve credit for making the most of the room exception too:

The most important of these is the room midlevel exception, because it is worth $8.8 million and can be split among multiple players. In this case, the Bucks did just that, giving about $5.5 million of it to Kevin Porter Jr. and then the other $3.3 million to Gary Trent Jr.

We absolutely do not, objectively, have what it takes to get either one of those guys. My offer (Murphy and Alvarado for Kuzma, Dre, 2031 1st) was tongue in cheek. But I absolutely believe that Dumars will baffle the basketball world again before the calendar shows August.

Whenever I start trying to talk myself into there being a chance we could pull one of these guys I remember New Orleans also traded their unprotected first for next year too.

The best way to celebrate would be becoming a multi-millionaire & knowing you wouldn't have to move. Sign that contract!

According to Gambo, were interested in Beal if he gets bought out. He'd help in a lot of ways as even pouty Beal last year was still pretty decent.

I am definitely concerned that we're trying to reboot the Brook Lopez era instead of taking a chance on some original content.

Doc Rivers is the coach. He is going to try to reboot the KG era without an actual defensive genius assistant coach.

I know Murray is valuable but what about something like,
SAC Kuz, Tyler Smith, 31st maybe rights to Bogo?
MKE Keon Ellis, Murray, Saric

PG KPJ, Rollins
SG GTJ, AJG, Ellis
SF Murray, Prince
PF Giannis, Portis, Saric
C Turner, Sims

I don’t know much about Ellis so just slotting him in the deal because I’ve seen his name floated on our board as a guy we like. AJG could also go out in the deal if it needed to be reworked, assuming Ellis is worth it

Yeah as much as it proves foolishness it's also probably a sign they aren't looking to trade their current useful players for future draft capital. Now if they suck come deadline time that could change.

I know we are desperate for certain talents right now but we need to be very careful about culture. We already have a big wild card in kpj. I dont think i want to add a guy who has a history of extreme selfishness and pouting.

I’d be shocked if Beal is bought out and chose Milwaukee. But I was shocked when the Myles Turner stuff happened so there’s that..

We’re the organization that brought in Adrian Griffin, Doc, Pat Bev, Beasley, Kevin Porter, Kuzma, and Jimmy Haslam all in the past two years. We’re not in any business of calling ourselves a “good culture” franchise anymore lol. But we also can’t be worrying about that too much when we’re so talented deficient on the perimeter.

I could be convinced on Beal at a reasonable price. He was extremely efficient when he played the last few seasons and he’d certainly get more shots here than he did in Phoenix.

I don’t know. Don’t love it but also don’t hate it.

Its not about optics or being good guys. Its about a winning culture. If youve been on a team, you know that too many finger pointers/pouters/selfish dudes/whatever can really make things unnecessarily difficult. If we are going to do things these next two years we need great locker room chemistry. Gotta have it.

I think if you're brining him in on a min and, with time, you realize he's going to be a bad fit, you just dump him.

I think locker room chemistry is a moot point when you have Doc at the helm. Just listen to guys like JJ, Griffin and CP3 talk about the Clippers run and it’s enough to know Doc is toxic for the locker room.

I know you didnt ask me but hes been on my mind. I dont know his game super well but the idea of him has always been attractive to our team needs. Looking at bball index, he had an elite year on defense as a wing stopper two years ago and was solid on offense, but took a step back last season. Still nothing terrible, just not a resounding plus. So if you believe in him and they are listening, i think its a good time to buy. 6'8, played 70+ games all three seasons. Already good to great defensively with offensive upside. I dont know if you can do better that with 31 1st unless you are waiting to package it for something bigger.

Can someone sell me on Ryan Rollins? I didn't get to see a ton of him this past year but it seems this board is very high on him. All I can remember is he was part of some those horrible early game Doc lineups that were getting killed, including Game 1 vs Indy (unless I am remembering any of this incorrectly?). I guess I would just prefer a proven vet PG to pair with KPJ who is himself still a wild card.

Philosophically, if our pro scouts think he's got it, it's the right time to take our shot. I'm kind of ambivalent about him as a player. He's one of those guys who's taken an unexpected trajectory... he looked like a scoring machine in college, but historically a lot of combo forwards have struggled to translate that production to the pros and it seems like he's no exception. But, unlike guys like Derrick Williams or Anthony Bennett, he defends, and his spot up shooting has been playable. So I guess my question is whether he has kind of a Tobias-level offensive game that's been hidden by the Kings offense.

I doubt it. I don't think he's quick enough to create his own shot from the perimeter in the NBA. His first step has no zip, and there's no wiggle or deception in his floor game. I don't think he's got the footwork or the ball-handling or the playmaking chops to be more of a focal point than he's been. He *could* improve those things, of course, but I wouldn't bet on it.

He's a useful player, and I'd take him, but I wouldn't target him as a part of a new core. I think he stays solid and never rises above that level.
