Counter point to this is that Thibs hasn't had success outside of Rose and Brunson, which i wouldn't hold against Tom. I don't think having LeBron should be a knock against Mike either, you can't win without talent.
Look at Jordi Fernandez, people here are giving him the credit for Sacramento's offense but he just coached the Nets to the 2nd worst offense and defense in the league, but no one can hold that against him because his best player was literally Cam Thomas, and he got hurt.
I think for me, I gotta focus on how Mike's past offensive and defensive systems will fit this roster.
Who gave Jordi credit? Not me. As for the Nets, it was a tank. Pop wasn't doing any better with that team. Come on bro. I can see you!

I said there was circumstantial evidence to suggest his AHC was a big part of that success. That waa according to talk from SAC fans.
My big miss in year 3 was DeRozan. It still doesn't change the fact that he lost the locker room according to reports but, he was thrown a curveball there.
Well, my point is I see very little to gain from nitpicking Mike's record because of LeBron. We could say this about every coach with a winning career record. That's why I brought up Jordi. You can't win without dogs.
I'm not nitpicking his record. I'm giving it context because people are acting like his record excuses all criticism. I am engaging in the conversation from a realistic approach. Looking deeper than raw numbers. Trying to make sense of who he is as a HC. It may come off as skeptical but, I'm just being practical. His last job matters a hell of a lot more than the championships he won as an assistant 20 years ago. It also matters more than his W/L records with HOF/GOAT level players on those teams. This team may be better than that SAC team but, it doesn't have HOF/GOAT talent either. Kinda seems relevant to me.
As of right now we simply changed HC. So is the current staff as good as the staff he had in SAC? That's the current situation. Like I said earlier in the discussion, I need to wait until the dust clears but, having an open discussion to me is ultimately to get all views and form an opinion based on that collective. I'm not here trying to win arguments until my words get twisted and I need to correct that nonsense. I'm here to get more insight on the team and grow my perspective/opinion from that. It's not a competition for me.
In the end, this hire wasn't what I wanted but, I am not losing my mind. I just have concerns that things haven't really changed enough yet for me to be comfortable going into next season with any championship aspirations. When the staff and roster are in place and we see how they look, I'm hoping all my concerns are gone. I know things weren't gonna change under Thibs so. I'm ok with the firing if things change going forward.
