Ignoring how consistent I am about hating every single DeJounte Murray trade (he was a negative impact player PRIOR to blowing out his Achilles' tendon), this is unworkable for New Orleans and Bradley Beal would not agree to go to New Orleans (unless they agreed to waive him). Despite his injuries last season, Herb Jones has positive value on his contract and with Bradley Beal not going there, I don't see them paying picks to swap Dejounte Murray for the dead contract of Bradley Beal.
Obviously everything would be contingent on people agreeing, that being said I would argue part of Murray's issues has been being forced to be the scorer. Him blowing his Achilles likely lowers his trade value. Again, I'm not doing the trade until I know where he's at recovery wise and when he would be able to actually play again. Obviously this is contingent on Beal agreeing to go. The reason for Phoenix is obvious. Let's look at New Orleans with Beal on their roster.
PG Poole
SG Beal
SF Murphy
PF Williamson
C. Messi
That competes in the East.
Is Minnesota gambling a little bit on Murray? Yes. If the gamble pays off, you are set for a championship runs for the foreseeable future. If it doesn't, you are stuck with a slightly overpaid starting caliber point guard who is a good defender and can get his own shot when needed. The obvious ultimate failure would be he never plays again because he can't recover from the injury. Randle could do the same thing in training camp and never play again. I acknowledge all the points you made that would say this trade is too risky, I just don't see other starting point guards, that would likely be available, that would raise the bar. Again, not negating anything you said as far as reasonable concerns and the likelihood of things not working due to Beal.
