Collins is a good player. It's always the contract with him but at least it is finally expiring.

Improving. There's a reason Norm Powell couldn't get minutes on the 19 Raptors. Selfish ballhog with no skills outside shooting and dribbling.

Watching him on the Clippers with their crowded spacing was brutal at times. John Collins is better on both endsand fits perfectly with Harden.

Lmao what? Are we talking about the same Norm?

Raptors fan chiming in, in 2019 Norm was exclusively used as a Danny Green's back up. He was a main part of the rotation, and excelled in his role playing every game.

When Kawhi left he was thrusted into a bigger role, and in his final 2 season he had a TS of 62.4%, and 64.5% with the Raps. He functioned mostly as an off ball scorer, playing within the flow of the offense.

Most Raptors fans agree trading Norm was a big time fumble by our franchise. Im not sure how he was with the Clippers, but he was far from a ball hog here in Toronto, we love & miss him.

He average 2.6 ast per 36 and played 16 MPG in a rotation with no Anunoby. He was not used or prioritized and he shouldn't have been.

To have a ball hogging chucker like this as a starter is a disaster. You would need a 17 Warriors level roster to get away with it.

The Clippers won this trade with Collins, imo.

Clippers are really good at building treadmill teams. Not even really joking. They probably should've been headed to the lottery this season and last season but made just enough marginal improvements to stay in the playoff hunt. I think they could've gotten more for Powell at the deadline but can understand why they wouldn't pull the trigger at that time. Utah on the other hand probably wanted 5 firsts and a blue chip prospect for Collins. Once again they build up a player's value only to get diddly in return because of too high an asking price. Lauri, Collins, Sexton and next they'll either get a piddly return for Kessler or sign up to an inflated contract that they don't really want.

Clippers are better without a selfish player like Powell on their team

You mention the Clippers crowded spacing - how is trading away a guy who shot 42% from 3 for you helping?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

This trade makes Beal to the Clippers as the favorite after he gets bought out.

Gotta admit it, nobody wheels and deals quite like Miami.

Lakers and Celtics have inherent advantages that make them destinations, but Miami just streetfights in FA. The are the league's premier hustlers and I mean that as a big compliment.

Collins allows Kawhi to play bully ball against smaller players and they sell high on Powell.

Powell gets a chance to start next to Herro and Donovan Mitchell, and his offense compliments how they all will play off Bam.

Utah gets picks for taking on Kyle Anderson's extra year and saves money in the process for this season in case they decide to take on extra salary that might come with more picks.

Wins all around for everyone.

They_Them_Hatin wrote:Miami fleeced. Utah saved money and loading up the tank. Beal can barely move so if this is the Clippers plan to replace him with Powell it’s such a downgrade. However they def upgraded their front court which has been lacking behind Zubac for years. I think everyone got what they wanted.

Miami- Really good player for nothing
Jazz- Tank
Clippers- Size

Powell was awesome the first half of the season. We cannot downplay it. But the second half of the season when they ended 18-3 he was ****. The problem with guards like Powell is when they aren’t on offensively they do nothing to help and a lot to hurt you.

Same in the playoffs. What will happen is with or without CP3 or Beal, those minutes will be absorbed by Dunn, DJ, Bogdan and young players like Christie/Flowers etc. Those players won’t give you 22 ppg but they also defend, rebound, pass, don’t turn the ball over like Powell.

So similar to PG the late season version of Powell actually ends up being addition by subtraction. The early season Powell it’s a moderate loss.

Good lob fit for Harden, and Kawhi can go back to the 3.
Also, Clips were getting killed on the boards so that helps.

Btw there is humor in the fact that the Clips fans on Twitter have literally been asking for Collins for 3-4 seasons over and over hounding team officials online lol. Maybe Ballmer saw some tweets. They haven’t had a true PF or vertical threat since Blake Griffin.

Who do you think is better, Powell or Herro? I feel they are both similar caliber SGs.

Herro is definitely better and more well rounded. But offensively besides playmaking they are pretty similar. Herro is a more big game player, much better playmaker.
