Id say there's no improving this roster with any mle fa left.

Its purely a financial move for the owner, thats going to handicap the team for 5 years. Bucks have giannis to it was understandable, you dont do that for booker.

It doesn't really handicap the team much. I don't quite understand the fear of having 12% of cap dead.

And yeah, Suns save $200m in luxury tax this season and $150m next season ($350m tax total) with this one move to stretch Beal.

Its not a little tax

Also, Beal hasn't been *good* since the NBA made the foul baiting adjustment and his free throws got cut in half. His defense has been suspect since he got off his rookie contract. His on/off numbers cratered when he got traded to the Suns (-8.7 last season). He's managed 60 games once in the past 6 years.

I'm a little surprised at how much buzz he's generating.

How far are the jazz from being a playoff team? 3 years at least? Is Lauri really content to just cash checks on a team that's only now truly burning it to the ground? Feel like it makes no sense to keep him around but his value is probably at its lowest so idk if the jazz can trade him rn. Weird situation built by Ainge refusing to outright tank and sell guys off at peak value if he wasn't getting the offers he wanted

Yah, I think 3 years is/should be the goal. We should trade Lauri when something reasonable becomes available, and I think that definition of reasonable needs to be lower than Danny's line. It looks like Austin has a better sense of these things, I am pleased with what we have done, for the most part.

Can we build out a Jaylen to Miami deal now? Brooklyn seems to still have too much cap space, Boston didn’t add vets so might be open to a Wiggins++/Brown based deal in a lost season, especially if it trims enough to get Dame locked up on an MLE type?..Miami has 2 firsts, Terry, Jovic, JJJ…

Herro, Mitchell, Jakucionis, Powell, Jaylen, Highsmith, Bam, Ware could work as a top 8..

The Jazz are going to trade Lauri when they can, but he sucked last year and has minimal trade value. They probably brought in SloMo and Nurkic to improve the passing so that Lauri can play well for a few games and then get moved.

In terms of how far away they are? Extremely. Ace is obscenely raw and Hendricks is still many years away as well and the rest of their young guys aren't really good enough.

He should go to a place where he can showcase his game for one last big contract next year when teams have lots of capspace. Washington reunion would be hilarious next offseason

WHat exactly is he "showcasing" that teams don't know about him already? This always feels like such a "fan" thought, that isn't real. Like a GM watches him solely on last year and is like yep, he's still got it! Send him big money!

that he can go back to being a 30 ppg player (unlikely) when not playing behind 2 ball dominant scorers in KD and booker

And again, that's purely a fan perspective, or like a fantasy basketball owner. He averaged 30 when he got 23 shots a game. Last 2 years he's gotten 13. Does getting up 10 more shots per game show actual GMs and scouts who do this for a living "prove" anything? What does it show? And who wants him as a 30 PPG player? It just feels like a tired expectation that fans hold, but, like I said, feels more rooted in fantasy sports than anything.
GMs know who he is, know what he can do by now. There's nothing he needs to do or can do to get that next big deal

Totally agree with this. Lauri looks so much better with ball movement and that is what Anderson and Nurkic will do. If we can't trade him before the season if he has a good first 15-20 games I think he will be tradeable again.

I can’t see any reason why Boston would do that. The plan is to build around JB and JT.
Making room for Liliard is not any reason to trade JB.
I don’t think Miami has the assets to get Boston to even talk. They want to build a better team, not a worse team for when JT is back.

Kornet taking #7 in hopes of being 1/3 the player of Tim Duncan is amusing stuff.

probably but it's gonna be even lower next offseason. No clue if a team is offering a good package for him but the Jazz are waiting way too much to trade guys with some positive trade value that aren't gonna be there long term. Really bad job from Ainge since the Gobert trade iMO.
