Utah TPE is $26.6 million, Simons salary is $27.6 million. Doesn't work.

Think you could spin DJJ off immediately, Bogi you might need to hold onto heading into the season before finding a taker. Although the positive of splitting Simons into DJJ/Bogi would be that you could realistically head into the season pretty confident that by the deadline you'd be able to get off one of the two no problem, so you can afford to carry them both for a while and wait to see what presents itself.
I fear with Simons that we could be left holding the bag if he plays poorly or teams just find better alternatives and we end up needing to pay to shave money off his deal and duck the tax.
I don't think he's gonna pay poorly.
Does he last past the deadline? Who knows.
I actually think he's gonna outdue his averages and force the C's to make a big decision if he's on the roster past the deadline.
He's only 26, he's fast and he can get to the basket.
Defensively he'll be fine also.
He has only played above average for like 4 months in his entire career.
And he is terrible defensively for his entire career....TERRIBLE...what gives you the impression he is going to be in anyway a good addition and be "fine" defensively here?

That's all things going well though. The other end of the spectrum is that he has an even less efficient scoring season and continues to be a turnstile on defense. In that situation no team even wants to take a flyer on him at his price point and we start looking at having to include more than just 2nds to try and get off his money in time to duck the tax.
Upside isn't worth the risk in my opinion. I'd de-risk and snag whatever movable contracts we can get back in return and then keep wheeling and dealing trying to get 2nd draft guys to take flyers on while getting cheaper.
