I have no expectation for this season. If they make the playoffs fine, if they don't it fine as well. I am not looking it as some failure for Bam and Herro. It's more to give them as much responsibility so I can decide whether to move foward with them. If they fail, we get a great draft pick in a great draft.
The worst thing that can happen is this is the Norman Powell show for next season. He's the no 1 option or the no 2 option ahead of Bam. We make playoffs and get bounced in round 1. This is probably what happens. And to me that's a waste of a season.
Bam and Herro had that responsibility last year and clearly needed help.
And they weren't good enough. A smart FO would have rebuilt. But if you are gonna give them another year to do it. Give them another year.
This is a half measure that does nothing. Let Bam /Herro sink or swim. If they sink then do what we should have done this summer and rebuild.
Stop trying to make moves just to scrape into the playoffs. Make moves with intention of someday getting back to contending. Which means when you are not a contender, prioritizing development and asset collection. Guys like Norman Powell, Beal who are not building blocks are the type you stay away when you are where the heat are.
Norman Powell can't be any part of your future, regardless of what you think of Herro
