You weren't supposed to read that part
point is, i think now we would all have made that trade. Whatever you think AJ Johnson is, hes not going to be as valuable as Myles Turner any time soon.
I agree, but you still need to convince me that Horst was playing ten dimensional chess by knowing Myles Turner would be signed because of this move.
The point is not that horst saw Turner coming in this specific scenario. The point is that he recognized we were about to be locked in with a very old group of players and without much flexibility to change that. So making that trade gives us a vast web of possibilities if Dame doesn't get hurt, but still left us with a tasty option since he did.
If we hadn't made that trade we would still have no Dame, no route to retain kpj unless he takes the min, no way to sign Turner, and we'd be paying the repeater tax for guys like Middleton and Lopez while hoping and praying that aj Johnson could make one of the largest leaps the league has ever seen.
Honestly, the whole thing is a miracle considering the Dame injury. But without the injury, we could have been in an even better situation. So the trade was unquestionably good. If Kuzma can be of value its a big bonus
