They finally updated the Devin Booker extension, it had been reported weeks ago but was obviously not finalized (we'll at least not to the point that the folks at Spotrac felt comfortable putting on their site). They used the 27/28 cap projection to calculate the extension that starts in the 28/29 season. So their contract of 2 years $133M is currently wrong. I am sure they'll see the mistake at some point and fix it, but I guess they make mistakes as well.

Quick edit - I feel like someone that posts on this board is involved with Spotrac, so maybe they'll see this and help to get that fixed.

Just wanted to circle back on this. So looks like Spotrac is projecting the cap to only go up 5% in the 2027/28 & 2028/29 seasons. Is there any basis for this? Everyone else that I have seen - specifically Bobby Marks & Shams are projecting 10% increases those years based on the contract amounts of the extensions for SGA & Booker. The league specifically stated the 2026/27 season will only go up 7%, but not sure if there was any news on this lower projection for the following 2 years.

Two things. First, I think spotrac tends to be a little conservative on expected increases.

Second but more importantly, the regional cable networks have really struggled lately, and that has reduced overall BRI. I was listening to a Hoop Collective podcast, and Windy/McMahon were mentioning that one example was Dallas, where the implosion of the regional network meant that the Mavs revenue from regional TV declined from $90M to "a fraction of that". This has not hit all markets, but more than a few.

What's more likely to happen in LA?

Luka's disregard for conditioning rubbing off on Ayton, or Ayton's regimen rubbing off on Luka?
Ayton's lack of drive on the court rubbing off on Luka, or Luka's fire rubbing off on Ayton?

I like that Giddey/Kuzma deal too much.. but.. to play with the bad idea

Mann and Cam Thomas for Kuzma, Andre Jackson Jr and 2031 first top 6 protected.

Can Thomas can make up to 18 mil first year here? Seems good enough?

Kuz is at least a two year deal versus three year of Mann so some benefit for Brooklyn there?

Mann should be a better fit than Kuz with Giannis..

None of the above? These are grown men who are millionaires. They move to the beat of their own drum.

I like this for the bucks a lot. Perfect set of guards to round out their roster.

Cam Thomas gets to display his talents playing off of Giannis

No idea if this is a complete coincidence but the trade exception the Jazz got in the John Collins trade is for exactly 26.6M... what would the Jazz get to absorb Rozier?

Did they take the TPE + 100k rule away on the CBA?

I didn't know that was ever a rule?

If it is then yeah it fits. I think Miami would have to give some SRPs or one of the young players though.

If Kessler is traded this offseason (to the Pelicans)--- can his new team extend him immediately upon the trade? Or would the acquiring team have to wait until next offseason RFA? Thanks

Language in the current CBA is "one hundred percent (100%) of the pre-trade Salary of the Traded Player, plus $250,000".

Yes. Immediately up until the day before the start of the regular season. Houston did this when they acquired James Harden years ago.

So, this is funny. I had a couple friends I messaged with this morning that are in Vegas for summer league, and this is just the basic conversation around town there that people expect. But Siegel goes ahead and tries to claim it as his own by reporting it. :dontknow:

I would want assets attached to Murray before a team blindly trade for somebody that tore an Achilles.

I neeed to see him at least play first.

Also, reportedly Brad Beal gets 25% of this years salary paid out on July 15th, so don’t be surprised if a buyout isn’t processed until after that date.
