Draymond will teach him how to beat on players.

Doesn’t work financially with Kuminga’s BYC status. Bridges makes too much. Warriors would have to dump Moody or Hield as well. Bridges not worth that especially with the off court stuff.

Slim chance, though I guess more than if Wiggins was still on the team

I think bridges is better than Kuminga but I can’t root for him.

They would laugh you off their board with this proposal.

"Losing" DeRozan is a feature not a bug imo. Consider it dumping DeRozan you have to add assets to do that.

The kings are looking to dump LAVINE, derozan, sabonis, monk if you read their forums.

in what world did anyone want to dump Sabonis?

Talking about the Reddit forum. It’s not a lot but have seen a few, but more so because those people just want to tank. Which to be fair would be a good year to tank.

I am hoping for a Kuminga holdout for several months. After tomorrow, the Warriors cannot retract their QO offer to Kuminga. He can let the QO sit until October 1, the last day he can sign it before it would normally expire. The QO can be extended beyond October 1, but both the team and the player have to agree to the extension. If the QO expires, Kuminga would still be a restricted FA, but there wouldn't be an offer he could fall back on.

What makes you say that? I’m actually asking. I haven’t been paying attention.

But isn't the Kuminga situation what's holding up Horford, Melton, Lillard, etc.? They aren't going to wait around that long...

Melton will go to L.A., Lillard will go to Boston, and Horford will retire. Leaving us with the steaming pile of dung we have right now?

I'm rather enjoying the internal struggle within the Warriors organization.

Lacob very much wants to keep Kuminga. But let's say he's convinced he needs to move Kuminga. Lacob is still at the stage where, not only does he not want to lose a trade, but he wants to win one. Good luck when dealing with both Kuminga's demands and BYC issues in a S&T.

And speaking of BYC, this is probably causing nightmares for MDJ. It's mainly not his fault. He has an owner who pinned the Warriors into this corner. But as a GM, this is a rough situation to be in. MDJ apparently came up with a trade for KD before KD nixed it, and then followed that up with the Butler trade. Quite impressive maneuvering, but Kuminga's restricted free agency has become a real challenge.

On top of all of that, you have a coach who doesn't want Kuminga on the team. Kerr even alluded to it before needing to backpedal comments. Kerr is very much stuck in his coaching ways, and it will likely be that way until he leaves the team when Curry retires/moves on to another team.

Are you sure you are a fan of the warriors and not drama? Enjoying the dubs struggle with questions around trade value, playing style, coaching, and management while the team is on the final leg of this relay doesn't really scream 'fan!'

I'm not here to gatekeep or tell people how to root but hoping for JK to holdout for months while enjoying the FO struggles is the ultimate version of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I can sort of see both sides of it. It's a continuation of Lacob thinking he can have his cake and eat it too, from the two timelines. He's still unwilling to be pragmatic about it by either trading Kuminga or replacing Kerr, when it's been obvious for a couple years it was never going to work, and I think there is a certain schadenfreude to be taken from watching the hubris of entitled and stubborn super rich guys come back to bite them (Hi, Elon!). Unfortunately, it is hurting the team and thus the fans at the same time, at a critical time when the window is closing on the greatest player most of us has ever seen. Maybe he learns his lesson this time?

If the Dubs decide all JK is getting is the QO and assume he will sign it at the deadline, do they currently have the cap space to sign other free agents? or.. would the Sac offer of Carter/Saric/2 2nds give them a better or worse chance to sign FA's than JK signing the QO?

I don't think you replace Kerr just to accommodate Jonathan Kuminga. As for trading JK, it doesn’t seem like the team is opposed, it’s just a difficult task given all the variables. It’s possible they held on too long, or it could be that the league simply never valued Kuminga enough for a favorable deal to materialize. I’m not his biggest fan by any means, but if there’s no better option, you might as well stick with him. This is the kind of risk you take when drafting a high-upside but raw player compounded by the challenge of the player who may have an unrealistic view of himself.

The problem is Kuminga's market value is probably no more than 4/80 but he thinks he's better than that. And it doesn't help that you have dudes like Marcus Thompson saying he's worth more than Herb Jones (which is comical).

I feel like if he was getting offered 4/80 then he would've took that by now.

After turning down 5/150, allegedly?

My best guess as to what happened? They did offer JK something close to 5/150 last summer. Let's say something like 5/140 with some unlikely bonuses. He should have jumped on that, considering how obvious it was there would be no real teams with capspace this summer and his, and everyone else's, RFA would go poorly. Even if years 4 and 5 were team options, he should have jumped on 5/140 or even 5/120. We should all be thrilled that he did not.

This summer, 4/80 is probably a real humbling offer. Considering no one has offered that contract in RFA, maybe it's even less. I'm not sure if it's the agency or JK that made the decision last summer and is driving the clown car today. The whole, "meet with teams during vegas" facade indicates to me it's the agency but who really knows. If he was getting good advice after firing his agent last summer, he'd negotiate a 3/65 extension, get a PO in year 3, and be grateful for the dubs generosity. As such, it probably will be an early fall extension, like Lauri, if he doesn't find a trade partner.

The whole joe lacob vs kerr bit is just speculation. I don't know if Kerr actually believes that JK can't work with Steph/Jimmy or if he'll actually give it the runway it needs to start next year, if JK is back. Kerr is great at saying one thing, only to contradict himself 3 games later. I don't even really blame him for it, that's just the daily reality of the NBA.

What we actually do know is that no RFA signed yet (naz was unrestricted, right?) and it's not just JK that's having trouble finding a market and/or getting his team to commit to a deal. Maybe they're all delusional. I do think that's a real possibility that JK, Grimes, Giddey, etc. haven't adjusted to the new reality of being a restricted FA. Maybe they're all willing to play on the QO. Maybe it's a mix of those two plus other factors. None of them have any incentive to hurry this up, only the teams do.
