I was hesitate on the fit but the talent was evident especially doing it in the blood bath of the SEC.

But I think we had to ask ourselves would a Draymond Green archetype work next to Scottie? Defensively, it's too scary.

On offense, if BI and IQ are firing, it should also.

Realistically it would be part of a small ball lineup in crunch time. At the minimum you would need 3 above average shooters (rj won't cut it)

The way CMB helped on the drive when Shead got beat was impressive. A lot of guys would have relaxed once the ball was kicked out after Ja'Kobe came to double. The entire team's defense was impressive on that possession.

RJ will be fine with that group. He's a 40% guy from the corners and 36-37% on C&S 3s overall. Plus, he's a dynamic player who makes plays for others and moves well without the ball. The key will be having BI or IQ initiating offense in the core four + CMB line ups so we at least have the threat of shooting off the dribble. All the other guys, perhaps with exception of CMB (we'll see), can make C&S threes (even Scottie @ 38% C&S 3s in 23/24).

Edit: I like Scottie and RJ more as initiators when playing with Poeltl as they often get better driving lanes to the rim, and Jak is such a good option in the short roll.

His defense and intensity will rub off on others, it's contagious. Well be better because of it.

Yup.
How can you not get excited about the guy?
Unless he's a complete zero on offense, that's a player you can use.

i like poeltl over myles as a player, but if we believe in cmb and barnes, we desperately need a myles lopez type big to stretch the floor

turner type
cmb
wing scorer shooter
wing scorer shooter
barnes

for the future poeltl cmb barnes cant work unfortunately, we cant have just 2 shooters starting in this day and age, and need at least 3 shooters around them and hope they themselves improve

The bigger question before asking if he fits with Scottie is if Scottie is worth building around. Im one of Scotties bigger fans here, but he has too many question marks not to take the best talent because you worry about fit. Big year for Scottie

He's ahead of the curve at least on the defensive end. Which allows the coaching staff to invest more time on his offensive game in the coming years

The finished product will be beautiful

36% on catch and shoot 3's when you already have 2 non-shooters is not fine. And he's not going to be put in the corner if his strength is being dynamic and initiating. And that's ignoring the fit on defense.

This is simple stuff, I don't understand why some of you insist on overthinking this. No team in the last decade has won a championship without at least 4-out, with the exception of the Warriors who played 3-out, and 2 of those 3 were GOAT shooters. For a lineup of CMB + Scottie to work, the other 3 have to be really good shooters and RJ definitely won't cut it.

You don't know what "works". You also don't know that these guys won't be able to shoot now or "for the future". This isn't an algebra equation (shooter x3, + playmaker, + big = wins) but usually talent and effort wins games no matter how you slice it.
