But most people here can’t analyze players beyond whether they can shoot or not so they ignore all the other things that make the player really good and impactful. I’m glad our front office isn’t afraid to draft non shooters when the player can clearly play and has high IQ. You just sometimes have to draft good players with good feel for the game. You don’t need to overthink it
I was a big CMB fan predraft but the shooting concerns were valid and the fit question to some extent. However we're a young team, it's not time overthink these things, draft good players and figure it out later. Trades can happen afterwards to fix the fit.

yeah efficient in movement is a great way to put it. Nobody is speeding him up in his game, he's running at his pace which is such a good sign.
You sorta see the difference through Mogbo. Mogbo tries to speed up his game offensively, he rushes a lot, and he doesn't have the natural offensive instincts to react to changing situations, which resulted in poor finishing around the rim. CMB does a better job reacting and adopting to how the defense plays him. He finds the gaps in the defense whether it's through a pass or a drive and doesn't panic regardless. That's the difference a 9th pick and a 31st, even if they share a lot of similarities.

That is a thing with CMB, he is always in the right spot at the right time. He is always ready so no need to rush. It is an elite skill that can not be taught.

I initially thought he was kind of slow. It turns out, no, it's not really a speed thing, it's patience. He knows exactly where he wants to be/go and when he wants to be there, which is pretty rare at his age.
OakleyDokely wrote:The patience is surprising, because he played on a terrible SC team in a very tough SEC conference. Usually a young player would want to overcompensate and try to be superhuman to make up for the lack of talent around him, but he just lets the game to him.

I call BS on this.
So we were going to add #9 to a 25 year old for a 35 year old who's cap hit is higher, has longer term, and go HIGHER into the tax?
Come on.
And to add, if true...which I don't believe, it's very likely Webster was behind this as Masai was already on the out's.
But again, I call BS.

I don’t think Shead and Martin are capable of running a good offence. They’re just too much of a non threat offensively to create any advantages.
Pretty disappointed in Shead this SL.

Understanding that I've primarily been watching highlight videos and not full games, every time I see clips of Shead, they're solid PnRs and transition passing. Is it mostly his scoring threat which concerns you?

He was a second round, if he ultimately becomes a backup pg is still a win. His shooting development looks stalled, it is concerning. His ability to shoot is going to determine his ultimate ceiling.
