Indiana was never a great defensive team last season and they won 50 games.
Today's NBA is more about scoring and pace.
I agree with you if it's perimeter defense but I do think you need interior defense and that includes defensive rebounding.
IMO if you can't defend the paint and allow offensive rebounds, big offense is not going to be enough to overcome it.
That's why even though I'm curious about Simons, I'd much rather free up money or trade him for a starting quality big.
