The Monarch story isn't something I would normally be interested in but I like Kurt Russell and watched season 1 and enjoyed it. It's going on 20 months since season 1 was released and season 2 wrapped up filming in February but I haven't seen a release date yet. Apple does like to take their time.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If you think you might be interested in Peacock, now would be the time to get an annual plan. They're hiking the price a few bucks a month.
They'll have NBA, Big 10, and some NFL.

It says the price increase starts 7/22 and those with current plans the price goes up on 8/22. My annual plan renews on 8/22

I have the ad supported annual at $79.99. I saw the monthly price hikes but I couldn't find what my annual is going to jump to.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

You can bet this won't be the only traditional late night show getting the axe in the coming years.
ETA: I wasn't aware of the other reason this might be happening. Huh.

Found it. The ad supported annual is going from $79.99 to $109.99. That's a hefty 37.5% increase.

I even noticed Paramount+ is now $12.99/mo. I swear it used to be $5.99. I only signed up for a $1 month trial to watch Dexter New Blood.

I have the Paramount+ Essential plan at $129 annually, expires next month. Essential is ad free and includes Showtime. Showtime used to be a separate option, now they only offered it combined with P+. It looks like the annual price isn't going up, for now anyway.

About Dexter New Blood. It's nothing revolutionary, but it's still scratching my Dexter itch and I feel like they picked a good person to play young Dexter rather than Michael C. Hall dressed up as a teenager

Re: OT TV and Movies (Please use spoiler tags)
Superman was a good, fun movie. Well shot, well-acted and the director definitely gets the tone of the titular character. Although there were still too many "Gunn-isms" quips where they didn't need any. And despite there being some fun characters included, there wasn't enough time to flesh them out hardly at all. The film felt more like a three-episode dump of a series premier glued together with hardly any exposition. Still solid, though.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Finished Ballard. Liked it. Michael Connelly (Lincoln Lawyer, Bosch) has interesting characters and plots. Maggie Q and John Carroll Lynch are good.

Is Holt a better Lex than Rosenbaum?

Never watched Smallville but thought Hoult was perfect.

For those that are now feeling the Gunn-verse, his first DCU project, Creature Commandos, was excellent IMO. That show made me very confident that DC is in the right hands.

It was solid. Enjoyed the cameos. Nothing amazing but I liked the little team they put together. Hope we get another season or two.
Absolutely love Maggie Q. Nikita is a really, really fun show that became great after it found its footing.

Peacemaker is far more overtly silly than Superman, obviously, but re-watching it in advance of S2 next month and it's just a fun show. Gunn doesn't get enough credit, I think, for knowing these characters well enough that he can write original stories for them that synthesize disparate segments of the characters' histories and turn out better than almost all of it.

Sounds like Superman is more of the "good" James Gunn rather than the annoying "substitutes an obnoxious amount of needle drops in place of actual storytelling" version. Season 1 of Pecemaker was good up until the very end, so I'm excited for Season 2. Cena's such an underrated comedic actor. Creature Commandos was an absolute mess that felt like it was written by a horny 13-year old.

Re: OT TV and Movies (Please use spoiler tags)
Yeah, I'm glad Gunn kept the needle-drops to a minimum. Although you knew he couldn't help himself with the punk-rocker stuff.
I liked Superman for the most part. My only issue with the film is more about the cinematographer they use. Lighting and coloring was fine, but Henry Braham loves using wide-angle lenses and his CGI is hit or miss for me. Felt this looked too much like his flash movie at times where the CGI comes off looking rubbery like in Matrix Reloaded. But at the end of the day, it's a comic book movie, so I can enjoy the camp of it all.
It's cool to see more comic book aspects of Superman be brought to the big screen and it makes me excited to see what Gunn does with other heroes like Batman and the Bat-Family. Guessing it will be much more fantastical like the animated series with more gadgets and comic like villains, while the elsworlds Pattinson Batman will be the grounded noir/detective version.
