Re: Hansen Yang
I'm just really so happy that at the very least this isn't a Ha situation...Yang has some actual skill.
Now Yang versus actual NBA players is a big step for him and that may take a while--who knows how bad or good he'll be in his first season...
But clearly, whomever owns the Blazers in a couple of years may be sitting on a golden ticket if Yang ends up getting significant playing time. If he actually ends up being a good NBA player, it'll be a complete windfall. I can't imagine the amount of endorsement offers he'll be wading through.

this kind of stuff is all over the net and there is never an explanation of just how it is that the Blazers are getting an infusion of cash from China
as far as I know official merchandise sales for jerseys, hats, etc. are licensed by the NBA, not the Blazers. And the revenue is part of the CBI calculation that determines the salary cap. Only 50% of that revenue goes to teams, the other 50% to players, and the Blazers would get 1/30th of that disbursement (after the league office takes a cut)
I'm not saying there won't be avenues for Portland to tap into interest in China and profit from it. I just don't believe the windfall will be as large as people are imagining
maybe Blazer Broadcasting can sign a partnership agreement with China media. That I don't know, but I'd also assume that the current NBA media contracts may have paths that the media partners, and the NBA, can step if front of the Blazers and siphon most of that revenue

The big question I have. How does the NBA collect merchandise revenue from sales inside of China?
Most of Yangs merchandise sales probably will be in China. China is a hot bed of manufacturing unlicense goods. There is little, to no, enforcement against unlicense merch sales inside of China. And I doubt Silver has the balls to push on this issue.

good point...that's probably a significant factor. The NBA licenses manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in the USA; likely in Canada and Europe too. But China? That nation doesn't seem inclined to police patent breakers and technology stealers. I doubt the NBA will be treated differently

There isnt a guy I have ever watched that I would rather have a beer with than Joker. Everyone is different but for my personality type - he is easily the most likable, relatable superstar in my time watching the league.
Just a full stop good dude.

Shouldn't be too hard, its harder to build muscle at that age but when he gets in his 20s that'll be easier

Re: Hansen Yang
Are they podcasting out of a Tiki bar?
Podcasting has really jumped the shark dude... glad to see real NBA players saying they see the things we see about feel for the game, but if any of these dudes watched more than a 2min highlight reel of Yang, I'd be **** floored. This is some low-energy barely-trying takes by all these ex players who are clearly just there for a check.
Get ready to learn Chinese buddy... #YangBang

right?
how much money can somebody make off a podcast/vlog anyway? I will read about some youtuber making millions but when I start googling the stats on youtube income, for most it's a few hundred dollars a month, and maybe not even that
I get that somebody like Arenas has name recognition but when I notice these NBA podcasts it seems like it's the same former players appearing on each other's pods. Matt Barnes is all over the place
