Def in my top 5.
They let him go because he can't shoot
He didn't shoot the 3 well with the 76ers last year, but shot 38% from 3 as a rookie, and 38% from in the G League over 2 years. He's a wing that can defend, he'd be a good use of a 2 way contract.
Because Community Notes are always needed with some posters, context:
He had 32 attempts his rookie year.
He shot 35.9% over 2 years in the G league (not 38%) on a total of 78 attempts. (I WAS WRONG ABOUT THIS, SEE BELOW.)
Last year, he shot approximately twice as many attempts as all those years combined (213) and shot 25.8%.
Over 3 years of college ball, with the closer arc, he attempted 238 threes and shot 30.3%.
You all be the judge of whether or not he can shoot. While doing so, also consider he’s a highly athletic wing with ideal size and defensive upside who was not drafted and was just cut.
My take: Worth a flier? Sure, but I haven’t explored alternatives. Shot can develop. But he’s starting out as a horrendous three point shooter. Maybe he becomes Demar Derozan and it just doesn’t matter because he’s so good inside the arc.
