If someone were willing to give Kuminga 9 figures guaranteed a deal would have been worked out by now.

Ahh, 25 a year is likely what he at least wants and will get. These 3/50 and 3/60 contract ideas are nonsense.

Not sure, kings and suns have been mentioned. It's the warriors holding up those sign and trade deals. They are not satisfied with the return.

Per ESPNs Anthony Slater, GS is offering what they believe is the highest offer financially-and it isn’t $25 mil

I agree Kuminga demands more than 3/50 but I think he will make GS pay a premium to keep him. Obviously the money is the #1 priority but he doesn’t want to go back to the Warriors and I think he will demand less from another team than he will demand from GS trying to keep him. If he wants a shot at a big third contract getting out of GS is his second priority

Like I said below I think the Warriors will have to pay a premium to keep Kuminga. Getting out of the bay and away from Curry/Kerr system has to be a priority. This comes down to GS lowering their expectations and finding a trade that works for them. Pretty sure Kuminga and Suns/Kings have an understanding at this point.

He’s restricted. GS don’t have to pay a premium. Other teams can’t get him without GS allowing it. GS isn’t paying him $25 mil and other interested teams aren’t either. Kuminga seems willing to take less if he can get the starter role and minutes Sac reportedly offered him last week (and I assume Phoenix is offering too), but that road still goes through GS

I mean we are are well aware that he is restricted. I think in order for Kuminga to sign long term, the Warriors will have to pay more because he doesn’t want to be there. Without a good deal why would Kuminga agree to go back there long term? He doesn’t fit in that system. It won’t help him make more money on the next deal.

What’s his option. QO is still more bluff than reality imo. Warriors looking for around a 3 year deal, not long term. Just enough to be tradeable. Like I said, beats the alternative

Don’t see why QO is a bluff. More then anything feels like Kuminga wants control. to play where he feels appreciated and to play a style that optimizes his talents.

What beats the alternative? What kind of value do you expect Kuminga to have on a three year deal? Why would his production improve in the interim?

Three year deal, team controls his bird rights, will still be in his early/mid 20s, got an older team that will need to be load managed so he’ll get minutes and on a reasonable contract with no BYC issues.

They’ll get a return. No king’s ransom, but better than the current rumored deal (low bar that they are)

You feel like the Warriors reported ask of a first, a good young player and expiring money is a realistic return at any point between now and next deadline?

Depends on your view on what makes a good player and what qualifies regarding a first. The Kings offer is reportedly close to that already. I think the Bulls could get there with Ayo and the Blazers pick if they ever resolve the Giddey deal

Many teams are playing tall SFs as PFs nowadays.

Yeah I don't really get the "he's not a PF" argument. Kuminga is not Karl Malone, true. But most of the guys who play the 4 in the modern NBA are basically bigger SFs (and most "traditional" 4s are 5s now anyway).

Kuminga's got the strength and athleticism to defend the 4 (whether he can master the mental aspects of NBA defense at any position is another question) and he's better able to take advantage of his downhill/rim attacking style against 4s on offense.

He's been a 4 for most of his time in the NBA.

Yes, so he is not a PF. BTW, he is not even a tall SF at 6'7.

The Kings offer of two garbage players who won’t play and two seconds isn’t realistic either. This is how negotiations work, both sides underbid and then they meet in the middle.

The Kings would have to offer an actual NBA player to get it done. Or someone else might step in (the Bulls and Suns have been mentioned). Or Kuminga will have to bite the bullet and sign the QO or the offered trade of 2 years, $45 million.
