The starting pitching has been fairly average statistically, but it's still pretty good. Like, a 4.00 ERA doesn't seem good on paper (what Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt are roughly around all season), but in reality, that's still better than a 6 inning 3 run outing (a 4.50 ERA) which is definitely good enough to get wins.

That said, you can say the wins are really a credit to 4 main things:
1) Great relief pitching (despite a shaky closer),
2) Timely RBIs / hitting with RISP,
3) Taking advantage of errors / good luck, and
4) Good depth... plenty of injuries with hitters and RPs but fill-ins continue to hit and pitch well

It is quite odd that they have the best record despite their 2 biggest weaknesses maybe being homeruns and starting pitching, lol, but that's why they generally aren't viewed as a dominant team yet
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

A combination of luck and extremely hot hitting, and a new hitting coach this season (maybe it's more adjustments than luck, but it's hard to tell with a small sample).

The pitching also isn't terrible. We're #13 in ERA and #21 in FIP, which can be worked around with a good offense.

The bullpen has been really good (~top 5) which helps.

I would add the defense has been excellent so far as well.

How broken does one's brain need to be to be upset the team they cheer for is winning because of some weird hate for the guys that sit in offices?

Sorry I don’t watch baseball like that. But a question to ask. Is being 62-42 common to have the best record in the league at this point in the season? Seems like a really low record to be 1st in the league.

I know baseball but I haven’t watched a lick of baseball this year but we must upgrade the pitching staff.

63-42 at this point (.600 winning percentage) is right on pace with the 2024 Dodgers who led all of MLB in wins then won the World Series. Typically you get a team or two that win 100+ games, but so much more variance in baseball + a significantly longer season which eventually leads to injuries and/or prolonged slumps gives a bigger opening to lesser teams “stealing” wins from the best teams. The way the Jays have been playing over the past three months — and even more so in July — I wouldn’t be surprised if they eclipse the 100-win mark.

Santander is cooked though.

Santander was cooked when we signed him. I dno why we did, it was clear he was not going to repeat that performance.

When the season is over, I want to be able to say Suck it Trump! The Canadian Blue Jays kicked your New York Yankee(s) ass this year!

I wasn't a fan of the signing either. Think we were just desperate after missing out on the bigger names.

I believe he has a tendency to start out super slow but then catch fire late in the season.
So there's still a lil hope with him.

This groups hitting with RISP was so bad for so long that this season was inevitable to balance things out

While Yankees fans probably have a higher trump supporter % than the general NY population the vast majority still hate him with a passion.

Dodged Soto
800 million dollars for his current production eff that

Im not sure if these bigger names really pay off in the long run besides an exception here and there
Google "Hind Rajab"
Total Killed by Israel = 50,000+
Israel kills a child every 45 minutes and ban aid workers from bringing in baby formula
Total being starved by Israel = 500,000 -1,000,000

Soto has a 4.2 WAR and 153 OPS+, Vlad's at 3.4 and 136. Soto's having a sliiiiight down year, but still gonna hit ~35+ homers and be in the MVP discussion. He's not Ohtani, but there's probably only a handful of players I'd rather have than him...
