It seems like NAW leaving gives a path to more minutes for Dillingham / Shannon / Clark. I'm sure Dillingham is going to get some of Conley's minutes as we try to provide age management for Conley. Maybe Beringer will get some of Gobert's minutes due to age management as well. Other than that and taking a few minutes from Naz, Randle, and Gobert, there is not as easy of a path forward to Beringer minutes being available.
You never know what happens with injuries though. We were quite healthy last season.
Good post. And you’re right, Connelly and Finch talked a lot about how they WERE going to play Dillingham and Shannon Jr a lot as rookies, but like you said, the KAT trade forced them to change their plans. I think for any coach, the higher the draft position, the more likely they get minutes in Year One.
It’s tough though with Beringer’s lack of experience. And who knows if he would be so overwhelmed by NBA size and speed that it broke him? My hope though is that his natural talent is so apparent in training camp, and his growth rate so fast, that he gets the Center #2 role. Both Naz and Randle would benefit from a player with Beringer’s skillset when Rudy is off the floor.
