Like I’ve said, restricted free agency is a joke now. Kuminga has teams willing to offer him more money but he’s being forced to depress his salary because the Warriors can’t take on more salary. How does that make sense?
If they are offering it then he should sign the deal & force GSW to match, either way he gets his money, I don't even think Sac & PHX can offer that deal, it's just they would give him that much if GS agreed to a sign & trade
4yrs 90 is equivalent to the 2yrs 45 GS wants to give him
If you do the math on the Warriors offering 2/45 and him being offered 4/90 but that being 70 million more than what the Warriors offered in guaranteed money, it becomes clear that the 2nd year is a team option. So they are basically offering him around 22 million instead of the QO and being tethered to the next team he is traded to. I think he should take the qualifying offer. The other teams can’t give him that offer without a sign and trade as you mentioned. Taking the qualifying offer gives him a no trade clause.
The threat of not resigning should be enough of a deterrent to not need the no trade clause
The other factor I haven’t seen mentioned is if he takes the QO, he’s likely to be given much less opportunity. If he gets buried on the bench, gets DNP-CD, or is froze out of offense (all things Kerr has done in the past) or maybe he just has a crap year and doesn’t live up to expectations, he might not get the offers he wants in UFA either.
Can’t leave guaranteed money on the table as a RFA. Too much risk.
Another solution could be take the 2 year offer but look for a player option year 2.
