Well, that settles it. Kuminga deserves more than Moody's contract, but less than Draymond's contract. Pick the midpoint. $18.7M or about 3/60.

With the trade deadline Feb 5, will the Dubs insist JK sign a contract by Aug. 5 so he can be tradable by the deadline or will they let him sign after Aug. 5 and be stuck with him for the entire season? It should be an interesting next 7 days.

Did that change with the 2023 CBA? It used to be if a team, over the cap, re-signs a free agent using the full Bird or early Bird rights, they needed to wait three months or until January 15th, whichever is later, to be able to trade that player.
If the three month rule still applies, then anytime after the start of the regular season would push the trade restriction beyond January 15th.

That didn't change. A player re-signs with Bird rights, more than 120% of his previous salary, and the team's above the cap, can't be traded until Jan 15 (if that's later than 3 months). It all applies to JK.

So 3 months instead of 6 months, this means he can be signed after Aug. 5 and still be traded before Feb. 5?? I had thought the 6 months applied to Markkanen just last year? Or was it different because Utah was under the cap?

Markkanen signed an extension. Different rule.

Re: Warriors Free Agency 2025
I kinda feel there isn’t enough discussion about the possibility of the Warriors having a lot of interest in Amir Coffey. Particularly if the Warriors end up making a Kuminga deal that brings back a guard and unbalances the roster, Coffey would be a really prime target to get a playable, decent forward who can shoot.
I know that there’s a lot of talk that the Warriors are going to sign Horford, Melton, and one of Seth Curry / GP2, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they prioritize Coffey over Curry / GP2.

If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Yea I can see that. He's the last really playable forward in free agency.

Coffee has respectable shooting numbers so why didn't the Clippers re-sign him or anyone else?
Can he defend? Has good size though.

That surprised me as well. He was high on my list as a depth option behind JK. IF we trade JK for that garbage Kings offer, or any kings offer that doesn't include Murray, Coffee would be higher on my list than Melton (who may not want to come here if we have monk).

Re: Warriors Free Agency 2025
Coffeey strangely has some of the worst advanced metrics and net ratings in the league… but the eye test and shooting numbers sort of tell a different story.
But ya, if we can land horford, and lets say we do trade Kuminga… wouldn’t be awful to try and get Coffey or another stretch big like Boucher after we sign a couple guards that can handle and shoot.

I don't know whats going on with Brogdon, but I would absolutely take the guy. Be an upgrade over what Podz does.
Juzang would have been a nice add.

Yeah, there seems to be little FA signing movement right now. Been that way for a while. Teams have room, so I don't know what they're waiting for.

If JK takes the QO. Guess Dubs will have more play money to sign more vets?
I am starting to think they want JK to take the QO and call it a lost case.

I hope someone videos Horford and Butler's first interactions as teammates; it's been just over 2 years since...

I don't think it's a big deal. I think actual fights would be a problem, or the dirty stuff someone like Brooks has pulled. I doubt either of them care much about this, just some back and forth gamesmanship.
