I imagine these are locks :
C : Jokic / Milutinov
PF ; Petrusev
SF : Jovic
SG : Bogdanovic / Guduric / Marinkovic
PG : Avramovic / Micic
Thats 9 plaers. What do you think, am I off? Guards seem set, doubt Topic makes the team, but maybe? Need more forwards, but I am not sure who will it be beside Petrusev and Jovic.
I think they end up looking like this:
C : Jokic / Milutinov
PF ; Petrusev / Vukcevic
SF : Jovic / Dobric
SG : Bogdanovic / Guduric / Marinkovic
PG : Avramovic / Micic / Topic
I see Marinkovic playing some minutes at SF, because avramovic is great to have on the floor for defensive purposes alongside a more traditional PG.
Topic is the most talented PG Serbia has had in a very long time and probably the best passer and ball handler since Teodosic among perimeter players. It would be great to get him on the team early.
Vukcevic struggled playing for Obradovic, but all young players do. He looked decent in the Wizards tanking environment and obviously has the tools to be a nice floor stretcher for Serbia.
Dobric is similar to Davidovac, just with worse shooting and better defense. The latter skill is most likely more important. Given how well Trifunovic played in Turkey, I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting that spot over them though.
Edit: I've got Serbia as the favourites, but Germany is still tough to be beat in this setting, given that their guards are used to ball pressure and they have the ability to get hot from range with guys like Schröder, Franz, Obst or even Voigtmann. However, they can also go cold and then they don't stand a chance. It's why they almost lost to Latvia at the WC.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.
