I think Horford is waiting for the Kuminga situation to end. With what Boston has had to do so far, I’m not sure they’re trying to add anyone. Really seems like they’re trying to avoid the second apron at least. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them try to duck the first one if they’ve not super competitive mid season/trade deadline time

I don't see the Celtics going into the season with Queeta as their only center, particularly if Boucher could be had on a minimum contract.

I'd like to have Lyles or Boucher as well, but I think it's unlikely. If they are signing for the minimum no matter what but can choose between a team with more minutes available versus a team with less (the Pistons will be less), they're very likely to choose the former rather than the latter.

Ok?

Obviously they’re going to pick the best situation for them. In the examples of Lyles and Boucher that doesn’t necessarily mean the most playing time. With them being 29 and 32, it’s not like they’d be trying to play for a decent payday the following offseason.

You could just as easily speculate that with Boston cutting costs down and without a star player for the season, they might want to do a one year flier on a guy like Precious Achiuwa to see if they can get something out of him.

We’re a month into free agency, I’d still look at Lyles or Boucher and see if it’s worth it

Sure they would. Everyone wants a better payday. But in any case, how would the Pistons be a good situation?

Achiuwa is a known quantity, and that quantity ain't good. He's solid on defense in certain situations, but he sucks on offense and always has. And there's not much of a market for below-the-rim traditional bigs these days. That's why he's currently without a job.

Agreed. They'd be ideal. I just think that they're not very realistic.

Saw a PistonPowered article saying Kevin Love may want to reunite with JB…sounds good to me.

i'd love that as a backup 4 compared to the free agent options. i'm sure he doesn't want to live out his last playing days on the jazz.

he has a $4M deal but has a trade restriction until sept. 7th.

He seems fairly washed. Even his 3p% has fallen off.

Nothing I think, patience is the key which leads to success for the rebuilding teams.

With teams dealing with tax issues, a lot of the fringe veterans will be looking to just grab up roster spots.

Onto other ideas in this thread;
Love- maybe
Haslem-possibly
Rasheed Wallace might even want to give in another go

If this thread is just turning into name dropping washed PFs near retirement, let’s just buck up and sign Micheal Beasley.

Only half kidding here. Then we sign Malik back mid season and have 2 sh*t-head Beasleys as our veteran presence for the young guys.

Someone mentioned Jon Leuer... which miraculously was given even the smallest bit of consideration to being a real suggestion

Someone then mentioned Kevin Love who is broken and was past being useful about 5 years ago.

I then figured... what the heck... I will toss in an equivalently useful suggestion in Udonis Haslem. Clearly at 45 years of age he is a solution to needing a PF of the future. I bet if we wait a little more we can take advantage of the AARPE to get a 10% discount***.
***only applies to games on Sunday mornings except holidays. Terms and conditions apply.

And now you half-kiddingly suggest Michael Beasley.

How are either Jon Leuer or Udonis Haslem ever classified as being near retirement?

Now that I think about it I am starting to see why Crymson couldn't completely rule out the seriousness of the Jon Leuer suggestion... FML :noway:

One better - theBigLip is available. 6’1” 225, an unmovable force, even when sprinting at top speed. Max vertical leap of at least 6”. FG% is a solid 55%, but range is limited to uncontested right hand layups. Available for vets min.

Anyone else keep getting redirected to a Spyware cleaner ad, or something else?

Been skipping even coming to RealGM lately because of it. Huge pain in the ass. Surprised I even got to post this message.

If you haven't been using an Adblocker to view RealGM I would suggest using this as a final straw to make that choice. Without it it's really awful. (I can't on my work computer :( )

If only Trajan would finally sign a decent PF so we can put this thread to rest once and for all. Very cruel of him to do this to us.

49 pages made up of 90% dumb arguments…at this point I’m actually kind of impressed.

Trajan is looking out for the RealGM homies, giving us something to complain/argue/hypothesize about during the dead season. Thanks, TL!

Not recently, but similar things have happened. I usually just log out for a couple days and it fixes itself in my experience
