Laughed non stop at the new Naked Gun last night. It's better than the trailer might suggest.

Speaking of the Rotten Tomatoes ratings, been watching reviews come in on Weapons and not only is it currently sitting at 100%, but if you actually look at the reviews themselves, they are pretty much all A's, 9/10's, 4 or 5/5's, etc. Sounds like an exceptional movie and after recently seeing Barbarian for the first time, I am very very excited.

Greenland is basically the movie version. Awesome flick.

Released straight to streaming during covid i think so it went under the radar but thats a good one for sure

I liked the first one and I like Gerard Butler.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I saw the original movie but nothing since, that genre isn't my thing, but Noah Hawley and Timothy Olyphant will have me checking it out.

I've never been to a 10:00 am movie but nothing going on this morning so here I am at Naked Gun. $6 and free popcorn on Tuesday ($7 for a small drink though)

I was probably going to watch it but wasn't super excited. Then I think you posted the first trailer for it and I was absolutely blown away.

Tuesday movies (and some places have started doing Wednesdays too) are such a fantastic deal.

I started taking off of work a couple of hrs early to catch a matinee once every other week or so this summer with the very good release slate and it’s been amazing. Used to do it in grad school to take advantage of student Thursdays with marcus

Pretty funny. Not even 90 minutes. If you liked the originals you'll like this one

Finished Paradise. I liked the finale. Episode 7 was incredible, but 8 wasn't bad. I'm excited for 2026 now lol...

Just started From on MGM+ (free trial through Prime) based on a friends recommendation.

Death of a Unicorn gets me.

I liked it. Liam Neeson was amazing but I felt some of the jokes didn't land. Might have been editing? Directing? Hard to say but something was just off compared to the original.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Isn't that always the case with this style of comedy? It's like 5 jokes a minute; they don't all land for me in the original or "Airplane" either. I thought it was at least close to on par with the original.

"Land" isn't the right word. I think a big part of comedy is timing and to me the pacing was just off.

Yes. There are so many jokes that some fall flat but that are rapid fire. And I'm sure I missed plenty that I will catch the second time.
