How will the Starting Rotation do?
How do you think the starting rotation will do this season?
1) Roy Halladay
2) AJ Burnett
3) Gus Chacin
4) Tomo Ohka
5) Josh Towers

The key to a manageable bull pen this season will be to avoid injury. Assuming no major set backs, I expect 20+ wins from Doc, 15 from AJ and hopefully 10+ from each of the last 3. It gets really thin after our big 2 and so a lot of The Jays success will rest on the shoulders of Chacin, who's really more comfortable 4th in the rotation.
Go Raps!!

Our rotation sucks, let's face it. Chacin has seriously fallen from grace, is supposedly on a very tight leash, close to being bumped from the rotation (and he's our #3!). Ohka looked solid in spring, but the best we can really hope from out of him is .500 ball. Towers is awful, but he has the potential to be a very solid #5, if not, Zambrano can come in and likely give us the same 7 - 12 record or whatever.
however, if you look around the league, everyone's rotation is crap, full of make-shift starters, many converted relievers, etc. I realized this last night, when the Cardinals, the WS champions, only had one returning starting pitcher from last year in their rotation. They have two converted relievers (maybe a converted closer) and some serious question marks - i'm more comfortable with Ohka, Zambrano, Jannsen/Marcum tan with many of the unknowns STL has pitching for them

Personally I hope 4 out of 5 do well and make room for McGowan or another young prospect.... we need to start grooming some of our young pitching prospects
To answer your question though I think this rotation will be/look as good as our offense makes it look.... as much as critics will point out ERA, low K/9, high WHIP none of those stats really matter if the offense can carry us... and seeing as how this teams strength is clearly in its Bat .... the rotations success really depends on how the offense is doing

McGowan needs to earn his way there. Marcum and Janssen both proved last year to be better than him.

I believe the the jays number 1 and 2 starters will both post at least 10 to 15 if healthy. Halladay has a chance to become the Cy Young he once was in 2003 and if AJ can stay healthy, you will see him get at least 150 innings and close to 200 K's. It's really gona depend on if Chachin can give you good quality outings as well. The offense will have a big part and will pound teams with all their home run power if healthy. The Big Hurt is gona give a lot of protection in the line up.
