It's a head scratcher for me.
It would raise their value if anything, good players doing good things in good situations get a bump not a decrease. GMs will say we can get more out of him with more PT/USG/Role/Mins in the case of GD & Walter. RJs value will obviously look better if he's lower on the pecking order & affecting/contributing positively, especially if efficiency improves
Less minutes, less results. IMO
In 2023-24, in 32 games with the Raps, RJ played slightly more minutes per game than in 2024-25 (because the Raps were more clearly tanking). So averaged 33.5 mins/game in 2023-24, and 32.2 mins/game in 2024-25. But he took less shots in 2023-24 (15.4/game) than in 2024-25 (16.9/game), and was much more efficient (TS% of .615 in 2023-24 vs .547 in 2024-25). Why? When he first joined the Raps, and they still had Pascal, they had him focus on doing two things: shooting limited open 3's (3.8 attempts/game, when other seasons he has averaged over 5 attempts forcing shots), and driving to the basket (11.6 2PA attempts/game, which would mostly be at the basket - his second highest attempts per game).
So minutes relatively the same, but less shots and more production.
It is possible, and now the coach has something to preach to RJ. That kind of production will get him paid.
