Haywood and a 2nd for a smaller, less tested, torn Achilles Haywood looks to be the deal.

I don't think Barry is right on this one unless I am missing something. HH's contract opened up 4.2 million under the line. If Dru Smith's contract starts at 2.3 than that should leave 1.9 million under the tax line and a vet min or prorated in season contract will be below that number. I don't think we plan on signing a big anytime soon regardless as they will give Goldin the chance in season to win that prorated contract. Anything else that happens will come via trade but how likely is that with Rozier? Probably slim to none

Here goes your opening night lineups

C/PF Bam Adebayo C Kelel Ware C Vlad Goldin (2 way)
PF Nikola Jovic PF Keshad Johnson
SF Andrew Wiggins SF Jaime Jaquez Jr SF/PF Simone Fontechccio
SG Norman Powell SG/SF Pelle Larrson PG/SG Dru Smith
SG/PG Tyler Herro PG Davion Mitchell PG Kasparas Jakucionis (PG Terry Rozier)

they dont have any interest in winning anything. they just signed an injury prone player back think about that :banghead:

I'm going to wait until we get the contract details confirmed and hope that it's just non-guaranteed money. It really wouldn't make any sense to give guaranteed money to an unproven player coming off of back to back devastating injuries. Especially when our cap situation is still not great.

"Smith, 27, dealt with a torn Achilles tendon last season and a torn ACL about a year earlier. His first-year salary is fully guaranteed, with the second and third years having conditional guarantees, the Miami Herald reported."

I think we will just carry 14..

Any other players added to the roster will be done after a rozier buyout midseason, or wiggins trade for expirings

Yeah, it’s like we have such low expectations for these players, “oh he spent so much time in the facilities” and buddy is like WOW :o

its not a big deal but its certainly not a bad thing either..especially as much as 5 Guys were trying to push the narrative that there was an issue with Wiggins and the staff. To me it just says that he cares and he’s committed. Some guys spend the whole summer with their own trainers away from the team.

Do whatever he gotta do to raise his trade value. Wiggins is on a “contract” year.. very likely to opt out and seek his final big contract of his career.

im still in favor of Wiggins carving out a role here because the 2026 free agent whale hunt is over so why not keep a solid starter? Rozier is the only person i dont like on this team at the moment

Veterans don't spend the off season with the team they go home and train on their own.

Its good to see whatever the disgruntment was they are trying to resolve it and find answers. Hopefully Wiggins doesn't turn into Rozier

First you question Wiggins commitment and motivation. He sdoes the opposite and shows commitment and motivation, now you say it's not a big deal and make fun of it. Zero objectivity.

There isn't really a FA worth the cap space any more with Luka and Fox off the board.

Durant
Lebron
Lavine
Trae
Harden
Middleton
Porzingis
McCullum
Wiggins
Simons
Rozier
Harris
Collins
Ayton
Draymond
VanFleet

As I work my way down from highest salary this year... stopped at this point.

Maybe at this point the best option is to just have enough expirings to facilitate a max player should they come up - we have that the next two seasons. Rozier, Powell, Fonteccio this season, Wiggins, Herro and Mitchell next season. Just don't give more assets up along the way and extinguish the one we owe asap.

Keeping Wiggins doesn't feel like a problem now, happy to start focusing more on the player.

C - Bam / Ware
PF - Jovic / Fonteccio
SF - Wiggins / JJJ / Larsson
SG - Herro / Powell / Larsson
PG - Mitchell / Jakucuonis

Seems like a good balance to me, though questionable to have Powell off the bench with Mitchell starting, or relying on Kasparas, and whether JJJ is ahead of Larsson on a chart, but basically it is a good mix of talents there.

Quite frankly it’s embarrassing that the franchise has to go on social media to try and repair the image of a ten-year veteran.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Good morning!

I don't see why any Heat fan would be upset about this signing. Smith was very good when he played last year, and the last two years of his deal aren't guaranteed from my understanding.

Imagine Mitchell and he taking turns playing POA defense on opposing point guards all game long?

We traded Haywood and a 2nd to sign a worse player with a torn Achilles. Upset? Idk if it’s that serious but I’m sure some people are. Is it a good or even positive move though? Probably not.

He tore his Achilles at the end of December, when does he even return? He’s now torn his ACL and his Achilles, will he even be able to defend like he used to? He hasn’t been played over 15 games in a season in his career. It’s a weird move for sure and it’s unfortunate we shed another asset in a salary dump to make it happen, just not good business.

The Heat front office has significantly declined. Even if this is a one year deal, there are so many other questionable decisions this team has made that I see treadmilling for yet another season. First round playoff exits year after year are not a successful season. Team’s either grow and get better, or they need to be dismantled. A treadmill team is just low energy and difficult to watch.

He's the last man on the bench. Does it really matter? Never understand why so much uproar about the last players on the bench.

The last players on the bench are players that's ok with not playing and that can be ready if suddenly he is needed
