Possibly bump the keepers up to 8 to further help tanking teams keep more prospects.

If the 15 man makes it easier so you don't have to manage who is active or not, sure. I don't care either way about the keepers.

It just removes the silliness from all this IL discussion and gives (a tiny amount of) value to deep prospects who should be rostered by teams but arent because it lets teams stash players better since theyd be able to keep 3 extra players for at least a year.

I know people will complain about "the waiver being barren" but here's the catch - it's already barren as it is. Hardly anyone is picking up replacement level guys - most breakouts happen at the beginning of the year.

Also as for keepers I think the pick 7/8 is hurting rebuilding teams because they can't keep entire rosters of prospects year to year. With keep 7/8 the top teams also forced to just enter this kind of consolidation game where they want to keep upgrading in 2 for 1 trades to stay at 7-8 guys.

Ill probably force 15 since in the new h2h format this will force competitive teams to choose to spend those extra spots on prospects or vets to get maximum weekly games in. Ideally this leads to competitive teams rostering vets/streaming and the prospects/stashes get left to rebuilding teams.

Probably can't do anything about keepers right now without a vote lol I know people hate change but I don't think what we're doing right now is the best thing for the league.

If the switch (to H2H) is going to happen, then those waiver pickups will be more crucial. If it's a 15-man roster and empty waivers, then you'd have more inactivity throughout the year.

(No problem with it if we're sticking with Roto since that's the "set and forget" league-- the same can not be said in a head to head format...)

switch to h2h was confirmed last season so we're transitioning to that this year because we've had a year in advance to prepare and 13/16 managers want it. Expect a bit of a rough season since there will be additional changes we need to do around h2h that cannot be implemented immediately in this offseason.

2026 offseason (next year's offseason, not this year) we will very likely be expanding number of keepers to further increase the amount of prospect scouting/prospect holding. It will probably be 10 or more keepers. With 15 man rosters drafted this offseason we will facilitate that transition to more keepers. really cant emphasize enough the importance of having more keepers and deeper rosters to rebuilding teams. it's just too critical to evaluating prospects.

The idea behind 7/8 keepers is that it helps parity but reality is that good teams are going to have great players that are no-brainer keepers, and worse teams need sometimes multiple years to evaluate prospects. This means less keepers actually biases the league towards top teams because the bottom teams cant keep their raw prospects long-term and they have to suddenly make short-term decisions when it comes to keeping 7 guys.

a decision on the amount of keepers in 2026 will happen a month before the draft, probably when we are doing check ins for this year.

I think we still need min 2x IL (or IL+) slots. Those dudes who own one (or multiple) of those Tatum, Kyrie, Dame, Hali guys need that extra slot to hold that star(s)

Makes me wonder if the number of keepers should be based on order of finish. Fewer keepers for top teams and more for cellar dwellers.

This isn't a bad idea at all. Would require some good thought on formulating the right numbers. I can see 7 for top teams then something like 10/11/12 for bottom ones.

Prevents teams from getting stacked but allows bottom teams to collect a bunch of prospects for a few years at least.

Or maybe top 4 regular season teams can only keep 7. 5-8 keeps 8. Rest keep 10.

Or 9-12th keep 9 and 13-16th keep 10. And maybe a clause where the champion must keep 7 regardless.

I think with h2h format something like that is doable in that since h2h playoffs have so much variance there isn't much incentive for a team seeded 5-8 to tank and finish 9th or worse (to keep more guys) because they have a decent chance to win the whole thing outright.

This would kind of emulate the whole cap/apron thing that contending teams seem to run into really quickly which makes it hard for teams in real life to keep all their guys. And rebuilding teams that manage to accumulate 10+ worthy keepers can't just sit on their guys for their whole career once they become contenders.

All this kind of stuff would be for 2026 off-season btw. I'll bring expanding keepers to a vote closer to draft time and if it passes I'll work out a lot of the details so ideas and input are appreciated even if it's not related to the kind of system we just talked about.

Ok. League was renewed.

-H2H format added
-9 cat (turnovers) added
-15 man roster (+3 BN spots) added
-There will be 2 IL, 1 IL+
-Trade deadline Feb 26
-Top 8 teams make playoffs
-Playoffs are 3 weeks long ending March 29
-Max 3 waiver acquisitions per week
-eliminated teams cannot make roster changes

Sadly cannot add a weekly games limit or do better tiebreakers. Remember h2h is a clusterfu but this will give us more parity while still keeping the skill of prospect scouting and even increasing the skill of roster building. Also giving middle of the pack teams a decent chance to win a championship or even finish top 3 is going to be really good for the league. So if you get robbed in a weekly matchup or playoff matchup, just remember it's part of the deal giving more managers a chance to win and also that in roto it was just crazy top heavy and being predictable isn't much fun for anyone (even the teams at the top).

No need to declare keepers yet but if you want to check in go ahead.

We will also add 3 extra rounds to the draft to bring the roster sizes to 15. You will not be able to trade picks in these added rounds, at least this year. Next offseason it's very likely to be ok to trade them.

Please enjoy this season even as we get used to the new format  Any questions or suggestions feel free to ask. There will probably be a poll soon about raising the max number of keepers. However it must be stressed that such a change would be for the 2026 offseason, and that this 2025 offseason will still have the usual keep 7 or 8

SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Nice work chief!

Just wondering why max of 3 acquisitions? Isn’t default 5? Thought 5 might be better as this is dynasty, there’s basically 3 camps - the rebuilders who will be looking to add youth, in-betweeners who have a foot in both camp, then competitors who will be looking to stream a spot or two each week?

It's a bit of a fantasy league-building philosophy but I don't want the league to gravitate towards too much reward for people who are constantly active or stay engaged on the app/NBA updates 24/7. More acquisitions per week = more impact acquisitions have per week especially because yahoo doesn't have a weekly games played limit (because yahoo is stupid and hates common sense). Ideally we'd have a weekly games cap and no weekly transaction limit.

Im trying to take into account stuff like this right now to get a super standardized dynasty league that promotes scouting/development but not overboard on constantly having to check the phone.

Awards!!

They were super obvious this year.

MOTY: TASTIC. No need to vote on this one. TASTIC pulled the team he took over from 14th to 2nd place in one season. Key acquisitions like James Harden and Trae Young were big time wins for him. These two stars will make a deadly back court pairing with their complimentary statistical profiles heading into the H2H format next year.

ROY: Zach Edey. Boy this year's rookie class was pretty lame. But Edey was serviceable providing 66 games with 11th round (assuming 12-team league) value with a key 1.3 bpg. We'll see how he does next year, with not much center competition in Memphis.

MVP: Nikola Jokic. Kind of a formality at this point, not a very interesting award anymore lol  There's a good chance he does regress a little, so maybe Wembanyama can catch him. Might do away with the award for draft steal of the year.

Also some players on the block for me if anyones interested

Jaren Jackson Jr.
Brandon Ingram
Jalen Suggs
Coby White
Quentin Grimes
Miles Bridges
Anfernee Simons
Mark Williams.

Ya basically anyone not named SGA or Jokic.

Return to Phoenix Suns
