I'm wondering what happened to "It's Juventus' fault that I didn't play last season because I came here out of shape"
I think Chiesa made a mistake coming to Liverpool. What he needed more than anything (IMO), was to get playing time, and get his career back on track, and prove his value again...both to himself, and to the world. Liverpool is in that echelon of "great clubs"...so I understand the appeal, but what he really needed to do was join a Leeds United, or a West Ham....something like that (I don't know other leagues well...but the equivalent). Then he would have been next to guaranteed playing time. I mean...he could prob stink it up for a while, and still keep a spot at some of these teams. (I don't mean that to sound arrogant, or take a jab at other teams....but you know what I mean. Sure, he can't suck balls....but he could get off to a slow start with some of these teams, and the leeway is just longer there. I mean....Wirtz hasn't scored in his first 3 games, and already your hearing rumblings of how maybe this wont work out, and "how long is Slot gonna let this guy run around out there"....and you know there's not a chance in hell that you'd be hearing this kinda stuff if Wirtz had joined Aston Villa or something....that might sound a little harsh, but let's not beat around the bush here.) Getting into the starting 11 at Liverpool was always going to be a challenge. He really shoulda signed a 2-year deal somewhere where they would have been chomping at the bit to get a guy with his potential.
Now he might argue that being Slot's first "arrival" (I guess the goalie was technically his first signing)...that he thought Slot woulda favored him a little more, and put a bit more effort into making sure he worked out. And I guess that's probably a fair thought. Typically there is something to that. But clearly this has backfired. Barring some injuries...I don't think your gonna see Chiesa much. Certainly not with Isak just getting signed. If I had been Chiesa, and I'd seen the push they were making for Isak.....I prob woulda had a few teams lined up for my services, and had at the very least a loan deal set up so the SECOND Isak arrived, I coulda gone out.
I suppose the winter transfer is only like 4-5 months away or whatever....but man can feel like an eternity on a young man's career. Seems like a great guy, and I'm sure that talent is in there....but like I said...I think he needs to go somewhere where he can play 100% of the time while he re-grows into what he had been. My opinion.
