By season's end, Guehi will be the regular starter, IMO.

Never thought such a spending spree was possible with LFC. To break the English transfer record twice, in the same window, boggles my mind.

Disappointing, to say the least. He was ready to play for the champions.

Loved our spending and aggressive approach this summer.
Sorry we lost out on Guehi but we kept Gomez which is a plus.

Defence and midfield still a ? mark but we got fire power on offence.

Love our team!

I wish we coulda got Guehi. Gomez is good for about 30 minutes, and then your playing with house money the rest of the season as far as injuries go. So we're completely dependent on Konate keeping his focus, and 32-33 year old VVD playing each and every game...and at the highest level. I know we signed Leoni...who's supposed to have alot of promise. Good work. But the kid's 18. We can't throw him in there against AC Milan, or PSG or Man $ity in the champion's league semi-finals.....he'll get torn apart. So while nice work for our future....we have a real weak spot this season. And I'm telling you....we gotta start resting VVD a game here, and a game there moving forward in his career. I think it would be smart for Slot to pick some games in these early goings to throw the Leoni kid in....start giving him some experience.

But we did great everywhere else. I don't think we coulda done better. Very happy with that.

Perhaps we can get Guehi in the winter transfer? I just worry this amazing offseason will all be for naught, if either of our CB's go down. Cause we really don't have anything resembling a replacement at this moment.

I don't want to sound down on the summer....it's A+++ But there's this giant weakness, that I can't help but feel very anxious about.

No Chiesa on the UCL list is a huge bummer for fans of the Italian National team, especially after the false hope given to us by his important goal during the first game of the season.
I'm wondering what happened to "It's Juventus' fault that I didn't play last season because I came here out of shape"

I think Chiesa made a mistake coming to Liverpool. What he needed more than anything (IMO), was to get playing time, and get his career back on track, and prove his value again...both to himself, and to the world. Liverpool is in that echelon of "great clubs"...so I understand the appeal, but what he really needed to do was join a Leeds United, or a West Ham....something like that (I don't know other leagues well...but the equivalent). Then he would have been next to guaranteed playing time. I mean...he could prob stink it up for a while, and still keep a spot at some of these teams. (I don't mean that to sound arrogant, or take a jab at other teams....but you know what I mean. Sure, he can't suck balls....but he could get off to a slow start with some of these teams, and the leeway is just longer there. I mean....Wirtz hasn't scored in his first 3 games, and already your hearing rumblings of how maybe this wont work out, and "how long is Slot gonna let this guy run around out there"....and you know there's not a chance in hell that you'd be hearing this kinda stuff if Wirtz had joined Aston Villa or something....that might sound a little harsh, but let's not beat around the bush here.) Getting into the starting 11 at Liverpool was always going to be a challenge. He really shoulda signed a 2-year deal somewhere where they would have been chomping at the bit to get a guy with his potential.

Now he might argue that being Slot's first "arrival" (I guess the goalie was technically his first signing)...that he thought Slot woulda favored him a little more, and put a bit more effort into making sure he worked out. And I guess that's probably a fair thought. Typically there is something to that. But clearly this has backfired. Barring some injuries...I don't think your gonna see Chiesa much. Certainly not with Isak just getting signed. If I had been Chiesa, and I'd seen the push they were making for Isak.....I prob woulda had a few teams lined up for my services, and had at the very least a loan deal set up so the SECOND Isak arrived, I coulda gone out.

I suppose the winter transfer is only like 4-5 months away or whatever....but man can feel like an eternity on a young man's career. Seems like a great guy, and I'm sure that talent is in there....but like I said...I think he needs to go somewhere where he can play 100% of the time while he re-grows into what he had been. My opinion.

Saw a tweet, however, I cannot find it.

Stated the PL best defenses, in terms of least xG conceded, after these first three matches were Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Bournemouth. Just so happens Liverpool played all three and won, scoring a total of 8 goals.

Point is the team hasn't settled yet. Cannot wait to see what it looks like when it does.

Why does this club have to make it so difficult on us fans:

Might as well enjoy the breaks when you get them and take the 12 points instead of worrying about style points.

You may not always get those timely plays.

I thought they could have scored more score goals in second half because they had more tempo, movement in the attack. Salah got the ball with more space and Wirtz was unlucky not to score or create a free goal.

The problem is first half was brainless with the slow passing. It was like they were avoiding to hit a pass with some speed to Salah or running for eachother.....

Well, I mean that's just it. We prob won't always get those timely plays....so there's cause for concern, as we certainly don't look very good out there for huge patches of games. There's "Style points" and then there's an offense that clearly isn't clicking.

Will it click? If not...it's going to be a long season.

I do agree....we definitely had some pretty good shots at goal in the 2nd half.

My concern:
I see 5 - 6 guys who quote "need to get theirs". Salah has always been a bit selfish....it's why Mane left. It drove him nuts. I think we can agree it's what makes Salah Salah...but there's a high degree of selfishness, and your a fool to pretend it isn't there. Many would argue it's totally worth it, and his production is nothing to scoff at. But it's there.

You've got several strikers brought in on huge fees. The pressure to "have been worth it" is immense. You can feel it when these guys get the ball. They 'gotta make something happen' every time. Chiesa is trying to get his career back on track. It's slipping away here at Anfield...he knows, we know it.

Gakpo never saw a shot he didn't like.

And now we're bringing yet another striker at a record transfer fee! Yikes. If we were averaging 4-5 goals a game, this would be great, and everyone would be happy, and looking good. But when Salah wants to score 4 of those 4 goals...and so does Gakpo, and so does Chiesa and Wirtz, and so on...you got a problem.

I think this summer had great intentions....but we needed to sign another Firmino, or a Mac Allister, or Tiago types. We need more link up play, and guys who are fine with 8-9 goals at the end of the season....but had 14-16 assists. Right now I don't see much linking up. Do you think Salah, or Gakpo, or Chiesa, or Wirtz would have dummied that ball like Szobo did against Arsenal??? F** no....they woulda had a go.

I'm worried that this isn't gonna go well. It's too much of a good thing, in the striker department. We need assist-makers. Maybe it clicks, and Wirtz get more into that role, and the equilibrium finds it's happy place.

Slot needs to hire a Phil Jackson to come work with the front squad for a year....make people read weird books, and mess with their heads. Get them to embrace team ball. He's got his work cut out for him with this squad.
