Dresden wrote:I agree with that- if he didn't do a good job scouting, then he didn't do a good job. But not because he passed on CJ Stroud and took Caleb Williams. And even without doing a lot of scouting on Daniels, Maye, etc., there were a lot of people around the NFL who did watch all of his tape, and knew about as much as you could about him, and still said he was on a tier all by himself. So more scouting very likely would not have lead to a different outcome.

You can feel differently, if I had a decision this important to make, I would be all over it in an insane amount of detail, not trusting that other people think this or that (and there were certainly people that liked Daniels).

I just disagree with your second point. He is still the one that made that trade, he's still the one that has almost completely remade the roster in 3 years. It all comes down to whether or not what he's building will be successful or not. So far, it hasn't, but most people think the Bears are poised for a breakout, so we'll see.

Sure. To date, Poles has not had the success I would expect a good GM to have over a 3 year period. We'll see what happens this year, fingers crossed.

I was a Fields backer, but that ship has sailed. I support my quarterback, Caleb Williams. I'm a Bears fan first; I have been since Walter Payton and Roland Harper were the Bears' running backs.

What about Ronnie Bull, Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers?

I was so young, but I remember cheering for Walter. I was six years old when the Bears drafted Walter; he was my first sports hero growing up. I can remember having a plastic Bears football helmet. Memories.

Sure
I watched the game. Fields was fine. He certainly didn't lose that game. 16-22 for 218 yards through the air, 1 passing TD, no picks. Sacked once when the LT whiffed a block. 48 yards rushing 2 TD's, no fumbles. Game ended on a 4th and 5 when Fields hit Wilson for a first down, but Wilson could not hang on. Jets only punted twice the entire game.

Might want to talk to the Jets' D and special teams that gave up 17 points in the 4th Q when the offense put up 32 points.

Loss goes on Fields, but I think whatever talk happens in NJ this week will be about the defense giving up 4TD passes to old man Rodgers.

Fields looked good. Wasn't asked to do too much but made plays with both his arm and feet.

Kept his eyes downfield when he had to escape the pocket.

If Caleb is a miss, then he will be a generationally dumb GM to whiff on pro bowl QBs with the #[emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]] pick in back to back years that go #[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]].

As I said in an earlier post, CJ Stoud's QBP was [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]]]]th in the league last year, just [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]]] spots better than Caleb's. So the jury is still out on how good he'll actually by. In any case, you can't call Poles a "generationally dumb GM" for doing what at least [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]% of the other GM's would have done in similar situations.

I also don't find it very convincing to slough off all the positive things that have happened the past [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]] years as just "dumb luck". Just to name one, it wasn't dumb luck that Ben Johnson chose the Bears to be the team he coaches for.

Ben came to coach Caleb you don't put your golden opportunity on a undrafted weak arm Quarterback like some in our based wants to start who played good against non starters.

My dog's name is Payton and his AKC name is "Chicago's Sweetness". I do have to make sure when I tell people it's Payton, that it is with an "a" not an "e".

I guess this is a good sign for us, that the Lions are struggling without Ben Johnson.
