I’m intrigued by this as well.
Cam Thomas also risked the QO, but he’s at least in a situation where he’s scored 20+ ppg 2 years in a row as a fulltime starter with nobody thats going to oust him from his spot this year. He has a clear path to go score 24+ again with more efficiency to earn a bigger paycheck.
JK is behind Jimmy and Dray and even if he plays next to them it kills our spacing and forces Dray and Jimmy to get more beat up playing the 4/5. Then you got 3 centers that could keep Kuminga from getting minutes in smallball. And Moody improving could steal minutes at the 3/4. Not to mention the same system that doesn’t provide him with pick and rolls and isos that other systems would.
I’d rank the best options as:
1) somehow get a S&T done where Warriors get Kispert or Ellis and Kuminga gets consistent 30 minutes starting in Sac or DC (likely sac even in a Kispert deal as 3rd team).
2) sign Kuminga longterm (like 4/80) where he can keep steadily building a role until he’s getting 25ppg post Steph and easily tradeable if needed (Monta like scenario).
3) However the QO or a 2 year deal play out… which I just dont have high hopes for it ending well for either party.
