ftr, I'm perpetually jealous of soccer fans and their singing. I'd love to see these these things in American basketball.
The weird thing is that a) American pro soccer has plenty of this, and b) so does college basketball, yet it's largely absent from traditional American pro sports with the exception of the 7th inning stretch in baseball.
American soccer culture is built around emulating the Europeans. It's the only major US sport where people would openly admit the European equivalent is much superior.

MLS would come in likely behind NASCAR and even Golf. It's likely even behind UFC and perhaps just ahead of WWE (which isn't a sport but whatever).
Part of why it is what it is, is that it's not a major sport yet (seems to be going that path though).
