I've gotten kind of sick of that franchise after what, six or 7 movies? Even if it's good I doubt if I'll watch it.
I have been watching some old movies made in the 1930's and 1940's by the Korda brothers in England, and later in Hollywood. The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) was nominated for best picture and launched Charles Laughton's career. Alexander Korda produced The Scarlet Pimpernel (1935) with Leslie Howard, Merle Oberon and Raymond Massie as the villainous Citizen Chauvelin. Merle Oberon, so beautiful and so talented, spent her life trying to hide the fact that she was of mixed race-- her mother was South Indian from Ceylon. It's a shame that the print of this film available on Amazon is of inferior quality, but even so the acting, script and camera work are outstanding. Sanders of the River (1935), directed by Zoltan Korda, was the first film from a major studio to feature a Black actor (Paul Robeson). And then there is The Four Feathers (1939) with John Clement and Ralph Richardson, which is far superior to the remake with Heath Ledger, and That Hamilton Woman (1941) with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, about Horatio Nelson's notorious affair with the married Emma Hamilton. Even at its age, the picture has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
