how to solve Houston's problem (FVV)

Post#1 » by nolian » Tue Sep 23, 2025 10:48 am

Houston hasn't a lot options in back-court
as a matter of fact more people think to play Amen Thompson at SG

now they have lost the only warranty as PG

i think they can't have full season without a PG and i don't think they can contend for title with Amen at PG

instead they have a lot of solution at front-court
Adams and Capela behind Sengun
Eason, DFS, Tate behind KD and JabariSmith
at the moment the only PG/SG avaliable are A.Holiday, Okogie, Amen, Sheppard
Holiday played 12' last year, Sheppard is only 20years old, Okogie doesn't play 20' from when he was in Minnesota, Amen is a great player but he played at SF or PF last year

i think they must make a trade because they must try to contend now (KD is not young)

let's propose your best idea of trade for Houston

good idea from another topic

at 15 december FVV+other x JrueHoliday

in addition to that how do you think about sign R.Westbrook?
i know that is not the ideal for Houston, but he can be a temporary solution

When FVV becomes trade eligible, deal him and Sheppard to the Wizards for CJ McCollum and Bub Carrington.

For Houston, CJ can play PG offensively at a high level with Amen handling a lot of the playmaking, Carrington can give a bench playmaker who can distribute and has good size and potential to be the PG of the future instead of Sheppard. But Houston's window with Durant is not going to stay open so they need to have their ducks in a row this year. Houston may have to add some draft capital but not a ridiculous amount.

For Washington, Sheppard should be an upgrade over Carrington for his shooting; he and Tre Johnson will give Washington a lot of floor stretching to go with their athletic forwards while his learning curve will keep them from competing this year. Despite being a year or two older, his lack of play last season while Carrington got lots of NBA minutes probably means he's equal or further away from being a starting caliber player this year. CJ has no real role or future in Washington which is committed to their youth movement. Next year FVV will be the one who is expiring or trade bait.

In addition to LaMelo, the Hornets have at pg:

1. Tre Mann - just signed for 3 years at 8 mil per year
2. Colin Sexton - 18 mil expiring
3. Spencer Dinwiddie - small expiring deal

I could see somebody getting moved if the price is right and we don't have injury problems ourselves

He's not a buyout candidate until after the trade deadline as the Wiz have the cap space to keep both CJ and Mids as a break in case of emergency option for a contender . . . it just seems this is an emergency for Houston and FVV is their only tradeable big contract and with the injury, a negative value one.

I like Sheppard better myself as I think he has more ceiling despite Carrington being both younger and more proven at the NBA level, but not a huge amount, and somehow Houston has to deal away an extra 5-6 million to make the vet swap work at their apron situation.

Can the Rockets sign a buyout candidate who makes as much as CJ?

Sheppard+Eason to GoldenState
Monk to Houston
Kuminga (sign and trade) to Kings

Houston sign RW at veteran minimum

until 15 december
RW/Monk
AmenThompson
KD
Jabari
Sengun
+A.Holiday, Okogie, DFS, Adams, Capela

at 15 december
FVV + Okogie/A.Holiday/other x JrueHoliday

from december to PO
Jrue
Amen
KD
Jabari
Sengun

RW
Monk
DFS
Adams
Capela

at the end, the team for the playoff can be better than the actual with FVV healthy

Serious overvalue on Monk and Kuminga.

Yeah as much as I’d love that as a GS fan it’s not happening.

If JK signs the Warriors offer (not the QO) I could see a mid season twist on the Monk/protected 1st offer with Monk going to Houston and DFS to us

For immediate help I think they can move Steven Adams now

Steven Adams
2026 bulls 2nd
2028 top 10 protected 1st

For

Coby white

With Capela Adams is redundant

White/Thompson/Eason/durant/Sengun
2016 GMAT Blazers

Howard/Nene/
Griffin/M.Leonard/T.Jones
Porter/Marc.Morris/J.Johnson
McCollum/Stauskas/Thompson/Seldon
Lillard/Bayless/DeColo

I like the idea as a Warriors fan, but that's a hell of an overpay by Houston for Monk. Maybe if you replace Eason with Capela/Jeff Green. More aging vets in the GS stew

They're hardcapped at the 1st apron after the Durant trade. I don't believe they're permitted to sign players who are bought and make as much as CJ.

I thought its if they are above first apron that they cant sign players making above mle

Unfortunate reality is we don't have many options due to cap constraints, especially for minor stop gaps.

If anything, I think there might be like a 20-30% chance they move on a more premiere player, cashing in some of those picks, but FVV's NTC hurts.

At the end of the day, I think they just roll with Reed, and unless its a disaster, float.

With cap holds, the Rockets are above the first apron. They can probably run with 14 players and duck it.

Sad but true. It's time to throw Reed into the deep end and see if he sinks or swims.

Reed was the 3rd overall pick. You roll with him and make a move if he is terrible.
