Hawks did, in the KP trade, it's legal.for BOS trade for him, no?

Then, the Jazz and Kessler theoretically can come to an agreement. Because Utah holds Kessler’s Bird rights, the Jazz would be able to exceed the cap by signing him."

Knecht, FRP and pick swap, I would![]()

no other team will offer your team FRP and pick swap at least IMO
and I had that gut feeling all alongdon't see you guys keeping him.
Knicks could also target him

A) no, not interested in that at all
B) this is the outcome we expected all offseason because it gives more flexibility in 2026 and is - generally - the right decision with non-star RFAs.

It’s legal but if they wanted Mann they would have kept him and the pick and left Brooklyn out of the trade.

No, they had to dump KP to duck the 2nd Apron.

No I am saying in the Atlanta trade they could have traded KP for Mann, Niang and 22, and left Brooklyn out. They could have then searched for other ways to get under the Apron. They could have still traded Niang as the did and then still be about 8m over the Apron with Mann. They could look at trading Simons or Hauser and a 2nd to get under the apron and keep the pick.
I think the real reason they didn’t keep Mann was the long term money. They have always focused on being in a position to duck the tax next year and have flexibility.

No.
By not extending him now it doesn't mean that the plan isn't to keep him, it's just timing. His lower cap hold next summer is key. As I said, this was as expected.

It really could be. It could also be that they want to keep him in a very flexible trade state, too. His constant mentions in trade rumors won't make him any cheaper for Utah to keep either, as he'll probably be less likely to give any sort of an "incumbent discount"?

All true, but I think they see the flexibility as worth the risk and will be comfortable meeting whatever the market demands he be paid.

Could be. He could also be next year's Kuminga situation?
It's just a dangerously thin line to walk. Players can be professional and understand how the business works, but also just hate being constantly in trade mentions/talks?

there will be more teams with capspace and a need at C next year (washington, charlotte, chicago). I think Kessler will be fine in RFA.. Unless you mean he will be like kuminga in asking out? i dont think he would though since he has a clear (starting) role in Utah
