Giannis and Jokic are in their own tier. Right below them are Luka and SGA. Then it's everyone else. This isn't rocket science.

In the NBA Cup, which doesn't count yadda yadda, SGA was relatively contained and bothered by Ajax while Giannis looked like prime Wilt and made a great defensive team like OKC look like children. Literally. They tried the "CaRuShoW" trick and that didn't do anything either.

This might even be worse than the summer after the championship where we had to listen to all the mouth-breathers try and make "Is KD the best player in the world?" a thing (it was never a thing).

Jokic's status as the unimpeachable best player in the world no matter how much the Nuggets get clamped up by good defenses in the playoffs is also becoming an annoying trend. Giannis puts up a casual 30/20/13/2/2 on 61% TS with all-world defense in an elimination game and it's an afterthought. Jokic pulls a disappearing act (20/9/7 while only getting 9 shots up) in a blowout Game 7 loss while allowing OKC to put up a 127 OFF-RTG (gee, I wonder how they did that while only shooting 30% from 3PT...), and all you hear is "not his fault, his teammates suck" excuses. If Giannis got the Jokic-rules hipster NBA media treatment, he'd have had his 3rd MVP already.

"But that was against the NBA champions, while Giannis did that against.....the other NBA Finalist." NBA nerd media.

I do not care about where Giannis ranks anymore. The franchise needs to be serious and get out of the first round then maybe I’ll change my mind.

Antetokounmpo has been putting up even better production over the past few years than the seasons when he won back-to-back MVP awards. He has averaged 30 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists on 60% shooting in each of the past two seasons, the only player in NBA history to do so, with a combination of efficiency and dominance that rivals peak Shaquille O'Neal and Wilt Chamberlain. Antetokounmpo was healthy for the 2025 playoffs for the first time in three years, and his numbers got even better (33 PPG and 14 RPG on 64% shooting).

Wow! So he must be the best player in the league easily, right? Nope, fourth.

Peak Shaq and Wilt????

I can't imagine someone calling a player peak Shaq and wilt and doing something no player in history has ever done.... And saying they are 4th.

There's been like one OKC Bucks game ever where you'd look at the two guys and consider SGA in Gianni's tier if you didn't have any other context.

Those aren't fantasy rankings. It's ESPN's NBA ranking of the best players.

Doc should bring him in for training camp like he did Rondo, to work with Giannis.

Giannis with 45% of Melo’s pullup game is the greatest player of all time

Yes, what Giannis needs is to be more selfish and shoot more long twos.

Can't wait

Melo was pretty good until he lost his athleticism and shot nothing but long twos.

I think the selling point here is face up footwork, which Melo was great at. It's definitely something Giannis could use work on. Melo also had some nice post stuff too, his shot selection was his downfall.

Melo was a wildly gifted shooter, who had amazing touch from hundreds of release points and shot angles.

Giannis can't shoot standing still from 15 feet from the hoop.

Yea it’s not Giannis fault but it’s hard to put him with the 1 and 2 guys after only winning like 3 playoff games in 3 years. I do think him being under Luka is weird but whatever.
