To me - it’s the pause and look back on dunk signature move - lame.

It’s the not putting a hand up to “diss” an opponent who can actually shoot let them get 3’s off.

Taking BS shots. Taking tech ft to boost his ppg all star case when no where near the best ft shooting option.

Pascal, Fred and previous Raps and coaches were winners and serious people. If there was issues with them - I think the issue is Scottie, not them. Pascal is still a better player than Barnes and Fred is a way better leader, as evident in Houston.

When Scottie walks off the floor early the org lies about addressing it with them to try and get the heat off while likely realizing - they can’t really criticize him.

I suspect Scottie lobbied hard to have them take Mogbo, being long time friends and at his place at the draft. That pick was a significant asset, as the 1st pick of 2nd round, and it seems like they have absolutely no expectations for it. As if the role is just to keep Scotty happy. If that happened that’s on Masai at the end of the day.

This and not looking to score for 3q’s sometimes just to try and look like a 4th quarter scorer.

I’d just like to see a guy with Scottie’s skill set to be an elite glue guy - because while he has the expectations of being the man without the typical “man” type ability as a 1st option scorer. But I think he’s still all about his individual awards and all star and DPOY - and not focused on doing what intakes to make this team win and then let the rewards come. It’s like he didn’t have to earn anything- it was all space made for him to walk into and his progress has not been linear. The growth in year 3 was proven to be a blip in year 4.

Again, these are observations from my couch, so they know better than me, but I’d hate be to proven that they saw this too, but did nothing because it wasn’t obvious to all. And by the time it is, just have a very overpaid diminished asset we can’t move for value to make us better. I only want to move players to get better. I don’t think we have any problem type guys on the roster where’s I have any issue getting behind if we come out and look like we’re going somewhere. I have more Scottie Barnes merch than any other player on the roster- I’m just not the type that puts affinity for him above affinity for the team.

Scottie is a potentially super elite glue guy - problem is he’s making first option money - And now we have to pay another first option guy. this means everything else has to be true value contracts, and our m.o. is to excuse and expect overpays in our market and not blame anyone. So it doesn’t seem like a great model.

He said RJ will likely bounce back from an efficiency perspective with a healthy roster and Ingram.

If he's an efficient downhill scorer. That's valuable. Hence, why he said it would increase his value... to the team.

He's also not tipping his hand either way and stating that some players will need to take value contracts (from a team perspective) to help build sufficient depth around max players. RJ, Jacob, Ochai, Dick... These guys need to take value contracts. Quickly needs to earn his money or take a lower rate next contract.

You’re missing the most important part about what Bobby said which is probably an indictment on how you truly feel about it.

His defence. They’re asking him to be good at something he’s never been good at, at any point in his career.

That’s a classic corporate move. Ask an employee to do something you clearly know they can’t do lol.

I think he said 'defensive rebounding.' Or maybe he said, 'defense and rebounding.' I didn't quite hear. This seemed more like role definition-speak to me, and it was the same way he spoke about the other players. Just do what you're good at and improve the things that hurt the team. Teams that tank put out language that is more about learning and growth (i.e. development), and when teams are looking to win games the language changes to 'stay in your lane.'

They want to see if this team can sacrifice for each other in order to win games, and if they can't he'll have the green light to make big moves.

If Bobby Webster or someone on the PR team ever sees this, please drop the Scottie Barnes is a father and therefore he is now more mature talking point. It insults our intelligence.

This is on Darko and something he needs to fix. He’ll also waste a challenge in the 1st half because Scottie is pissed about a call.

We do not need to be catering to Scottie like this.

I agree, but despite my lack of confidence in Darko from what I’ve seen so far, he’s easily changed. Also, it was a franchise wide practice to placate Scottie, so we’ll see if it changes with Bobby in charge and a player who may be better than him on the roster (although Pascal was and it was still Scottie show). And I think part of the appeal with Darko, is how happy he is just to have the job and will carry water and not rock the boat. Again, we’ll see how or if that changes with Masai gone. I don’t think Masai would tell Darko how to coach, but I think they would share what they want to see and Darko will give that to them, and not challenge.

Stop getting offended by nothing.

It's a true statement, having kids will mature many men. He did not say men without kids aren't mature.

There are many people who will know people with kids who did not all of a sudden mature - the fact that he relied on a cliche to make the point and not something quantitative/ in fact - just the fact that is was mentioned as a reason for growth is actually not actually complimentary. It’s just put in the most complimentary way they can.

It seemed to for Kyle, perhaps that’s what they’re hoping for. There’s no better arc for Scottie to emulate than ending at the greatest leader in franchise history.

not sure who OUR is, speak for yourself. If you don't think becoming a father can/will mature some ppl, I don't know what to tell you, that's an YOU issue, not the organizations.

enjoy the rest of year pal

There are many people who will know people who ABSOLUTELY did mature after having a child. The fact that he pointed it out to make a point is to reinforce the chit chatter he probably heard/sees throughout his time here. In fact, the need he felt to indicate that again to the public just goes to show how fickle humans can be. whatever underline bias you may towards Scottie I hope you understand that it is Infact a BIAS that you may hold & not the overall sentiment of the fanbase.

I hope you enjoy the rest of year as well

Finally listened to the presser and thought Bobby was pretty forthright. Just to the point and I'd say he's in wait-and-see mode about most of this roster except Ingram and CMB. But I'd say he's gonna have an eye on IQ/RJ/Scottie and if they play up to their deals and play to the team's expectations.

So in that respect this is gonna be a big prove it/evaluation first few months for this squad and if it doesn't come together I don't think he'll be afraid to change things up in a massive way, which is a reasonable stance to hold.

Not anything new that hasn't been discussed for months since the end of last season. There's some decent mix of current/potential talent here but we gotta actually see how it all fits together on the court and if there's any point in investing in that grouping going forward.

and more importantly the coaching.
His point about the "fit" depends on Darko's performance. If this team has a bad start with an unproven coach who has a 55-109 record, how can we properly assess the "fit"?

This season, all eyes have to be on Scottie and IQ.

After 90 games as a Raptor averaging 21.3 PPG on 49.7% FG, it shouldn't be too hard to project what RJ will do with a player of BI's caliber taking all the pressure away. (He just needs to up his FT%.)

With the gluts at SG, we have known that something will happen there.
Trading RJ would be incomprehensible unless the package was for Trae Young or a player of similar caliber. However, with all the issues and the Raptors fans consistently being insecure about the idea that "nobody wants to come here," he should be a Raptor-for-life (for once, there are no free agent concerns with him outside of "meeting" the salary demands).

We gotta figure it out... I am interested to see if Walter can be a big rotation piece similar to Norm. Not Norm's playing style but in terms of rotation success.

Assuming we don't extend him, I'm curious what his next contract will be. I could easily see him being frozen out of the market.

I think he can get a midlevel, but he's also going to have to accept a possible bench role

RJ isn't nearly as valuable to be a raptor-for-life player simply based on his passport. guys who don't defend and don't score super efficiently aren't valued all that much. he's probably suited for a 6th man role but you don't need to pay someone 20+ million to be that guy when there's a glut of scoring guards out there. and I don't think we've seen much evidence yet that RJ can be someone that can even carry/anchor those bench lineups to a great degree.

RJ’s gotta be the most underrated player on the team at this point. Other than dreadful free throw shooting I have no issue with him.

Unfortunately, Bobby's pressers are totally boring and everyone is left to over analyze every word. Not really worth it.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I don't know about Raptor for life, but personally I did not give up on RJ yet.

But he needs to have a lower usage when BI and IQ play, which should improve. HIS slashing is still needed, as if used properly (less often) it should improve his efficiency.

He is just not the main guy, neither is IQ. We'll see how IQ and him will do as option #2/#3.
